Attention NCBFAA members who have not yet attended the Government Affairs Conference! If you are active in your local customs broker and forwarder association but never attended an NCBFAA annual conference such as the upcoming Government Affairs Conference (GAC) on Sept. 22-24 before, you may be eligible for a discounted registration through the Emerging Leaders Mentor Program (ELMP)! NCBFAA established this program with the intent to provide mentoring opportunities and develop a future generation of association leadership at the local and national levels. However, your local association must be an NCBFAA Affiliate Association to participate. Under the ELMP, an Affiliate Association may select a qualified individual who is a local volunteer and has not yet had the opportunity to attend an NCBFAA conference event. To qualify, the first timer, whose name must be submitted by the local Affiliate Association must be a first-time attendee of an NCBFAA GAC and employed by an NCBFAA Regular Member company in good standing. The ELMP form to attend the GAC must be completed and submitted to NCBFAA prior to the end of the early bird registration, or Aug. 18. You may access the ELMP form, as well as other directions, on the NCBFAA website under the Affiliate Presidents’ Network (APN) page. If you have never attended an NCBFAA Government Affairs Conference, then make this your year to have a positive impact on how our industry is governed! First timers from qualified NCBFAA member companies are highly encouraged to attend the 2024 Government Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C., at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill Sept. 22-24. Each year NCBFAA members from across the country gather in the nation’s capital at the GAC to learn about timely and critical industry changes influenced by Capitol Hill lawmakers, the White House, and federal regulators. Specifically, meeting with elected officials helps ensure they understand the implications of any trade-related legislation placed before them. By participating in the GAC, you can effectively shape and grow our industry. https://lnkd.in/ez3DzCGn

Should our clients really give a B Corp? This week we are celebrating our new B Corp Certification. Yesterday's post posed the question of whether B Corp was right for us as a business, but does this really matter for our clients? And critically does it make a difference regardless? In other words – what’s in it for them? We work with 100 clients in the social housing sector, which own or operate more than 3,500 heat networks, with more than 175,000 end customers – 25% of the heat networks in the UK. Will they notice any difference with our B Corp certification. We think so – it has made us a better business. That means we had to look at every aspect of what we do across five key areas of our business operations - customers, workers, environment, community and governance - think about how we do it and then make changes to make it better. It also means all of our clients know that someone else has poked our business with a stick – very hard and often. We think we run a good business that does the right things for the right reasons, but B Corp means that someone else has challenged this assumption and will keep doing that. It's a badge but it’s a good badge they don’t give out easily. It also means that our clients know that we are focused on delivering real social and environmental outcomes which in turn will help them to meet the huge challenges they have in doing the same for their customers. We know that the sector is under enormous pressure financially at the same time as more demands are being placed upon them. By being B Corp, we can be one less thing to think about. Read more about our journey on our blog at https://lnkd.in/dyrR4MKZ and drop a line to simplybetterheatnetworks@chirpyheat.com to discuss how we can support your organisation deliver low carbon, low cost, reliable heat networks.
