Exploring a state-based health marketplace offers states a unique opportunity to tailor healthcare solutions to their residents. By moving away from the federal marketplace, states could reduce insurance costs, enhance outreach efforts, and create a more efficient system. The shift, happening in Michigan right now, aims to provide more localized control and improve overall access to affordable health coverage for residents. Important update regarding Aetna Plans! Aetna will withdraw from the small employer health insurance market in DC and many other states starting January 1, 2025. New groups cannot select Aetna coverage after this date, but current Aetna plans remain unchanged until the policy period ends. DC Health Link will assist employers, enrollees, and brokers with renewals to ensure continuous coverage. As you set up health benefits packages and enroll employees, please help your clients explore alternative coverage options due to Aetna’s pending discontinuation. Renewing groups with Aetna plans should consider other carriers to avoid a coverage gap. WORKPERX is ready to assist Aetna groups in transitioning to a new carrier within DC Health Link. #WORKPERX #HealthInsurance #AetnaDiscontinuation #DCHealthLink #EmployeeBenefits

The ACA Health Insurance Marketplaces are a cornerstone of today’s health insurance landscape, providing access to coverage for more than 18 million people. This article from the Commonwealth Fund lays out policy innovations adopted across the nation’s Marketplaces, focusing on simplifying consumer choice and improving health equity. Deloitte is proud to serve consumers using Covered California, Washington Health Benefit Exchange (wahealthplanfinder.org), Access Health CT, HealthSource RI, and Kynect (kynect.ky.gov) platforms, and are excited to support our partners at GeorgiaAccess.gov with their Marketplace implementation for Open Enrollment 2025. “Today, a record number of people rely on the marketplaces for coverage, and millions of uninsured individuals are eligible for subsidized marketplace plans. Many marketplaces have risen to the occasion, adopting policies that seek to encourage enrollment, help consumers identify the best plan for their health and financial needs, promote insurer participation, and advance health equity.” – Policy Innovations in the Affordable Care Act Marketplaces. https://lnkd.in/gavutK9Q Kunal Shah Prasad Yarlagedda GUFRAN VANJARA Mohan Kumar David Sorrell #HealthInsuranceMarketplace #HealthInsuranceExchange #AffordableCareAct #Healthcare #StateBasedExchange

Do your employees have access to their medications without financial constraints? Likely not. Health Insurance premiums have significantly outpaced workers earnings and inflation. What options do businesses have? raise deductibles, increase premiums, move to narrow networks, jump from carrier to carrier. None of those are great options or sustainable. Is my health insurance is even an employee benefit anymore? Your members might be what we call functionally uninsured. They avoid care scared due to the financial constraints of going to the doctor, dispensing that medication, etc. It's not all doom and gloom because there is a subset of advisors out there doing things differently. Because they are doing things differently they are getting different results. Lower deductibles, lower premiums. What are you waiting for? The solutions are out there. #healthinsurance #healthcare #communityconnectedhealth

Quote: Insurance is supposed to make care affordable for people so they can receive it without worrying about whether or not they can pay for it. Instead, the companies in the article focus not on making care affordable for patients, but on maximizing profits. It may be wishful thinking, but somehow we need to find a way to get profit out of the health care sector again.

Digital Marketer | Data-driven strategy, Storytelling, and Design | I help tell engaging stories that foster customer success and drive business growth
The healthcare and health insurance industries in the US are imperfect in a lot of ways. One of the biggest problems consumers face is the lack of Price Transparency. For example, getting an MRI in Utah can cost around $500 at one facility and up to $3500 at another! We're used to just following orders we get from the doctor so most people don't think to shop around for care to get the best price. This is one of the big problems we're trying to combat with Start Health through educational resources and transparency tools. Incentivizing working with doctors and facilities that don't take patients for a ride lowers costs for everyone and helps people afford the care they need. The result? Healthier people with healthier wallets, less corruption, and less waste. Let's advocate for a system where transparency isn't an exception but the rule. We can drive the change needed to make healthcare more affordable and understandable for everyone. #Healthcare #Transparency #HealthInsurance #AffordableCare #HealthcareReform
