Three separate incidents happened on the same day * A 5-year-old took a gun to school and shot an older child * A 3-year-old died after drinking alcohol * A 14-year-old jumped from his balcony after writing 'log out' on the mirror NDTV wanted to chat on - what is happening with our children and what can parents do to avoid it. In my head, the first two instances are similar - where something that should not have been with the child was with the child - gun and alcohol. Even something like mouthwash should not be within reach of young children as they metabolize alcohol much faster leading to low blood sugar. The 3rd incident is different. Before a child takes such an extreme step the parents have a lot of time to notice their child that - he is playing more video games, - he is staying in his room more, - he is becoming more anxious, aggressive or quiet. So while the first two are 'incidents', the third one is an 'episode'. And that is where I believe as parents all of us have to be careful to ensure our child is involved with LIFE and not with DEVICES. That is the crux. That is the question all of us should be asking ourselves about our children every day - IS MY CHILD INVOLVED WITH LIFE? *** It only needs 90 min to understand our children: https://bit.ly/uoclinkpost #thecuriousparent #parenting #understandingchildren

In light of the recent conversations in the media on the proposal to Ban corporal punishment in homes, I decided to shed some insight on the subject. The article outlines the difference between corporal punishment and discipline. It further highlight the fact that a ban is corporal punishment is not indicative that parents should not discipline children. Feel free to have a read! https://lnkd.in/ehaFu3fq
