We are excited to share that the @ONgov has extended bridge funding for Ontario’s 8 community Financial Empowerment Champions organizations, enabling them to continue delivering vitally needed financial help services for people with low incomes across Ontario. Financial empowerment goes beyond financial literacy alone —it means hands-on-help when people need it to solve financial challenges and realize their goals. Community financial help providers work one-on-one with people to build their financial capability and skills, helping them make real progress tax filing, navigating and applying for income benefits, or tackling other financial challenges. And when financial help is built into other programs – e.g. primary health care, housing, employment – it improves the financial health of service users as well as service outcomes. So thank you to Minister Michael Parsa and the Ontario government for keeping these vital services open and helping us to help more Ontarians to prosper! #ThankYou #Ontario #CommunitySupport #FinancialHelp #Empowerment

VICA opposes Measure A, which imposes a permanent transaction and use tax to address homelessness in Los Angeles County. Unlike Measure H, which had a 10-year sunset, Measure A locks in this tax indefinitely, creating a financial burden on both businesses and consumers. This will hinder economic growth and lead to price increases as businesses face higher costs, while failing to address the systemic issue of homelessness. Without addressing the root causes of homelessness, the measure may result in inefficient fund allocation and implementation. VICA believes that better alternative solutions should be explored that do not impose long-term financial obligations on our community. #VoteNoOnMeasureA #NoOnMeasureA #LACounty

#ActNow to help expand the Earned Income Tax Credit: https://lnkd.in/eBEqi3Vm 📣 The EITC has been a vital tool in reducing poverty and supporting workers for half a century. But it’s time to do more! For 30 years, millions of workers who are not raising children — especially those under age 25 or over 65 — have been left behind. Expanding the EITC would improve lives, create jobs and strengthen the economy. 💬 Ask Congress to support an EITC expansion and honor 50 years of impact. #UnitedWeThrive #TaxCredit #Advocacy

“The problems we're helping people with are more complex, urgent and harder to solve... there are an increasing number of people, seeing us with an increasing number of problems that are increasingly deep.” - Head of Policy at Citizens Advice. In Wandsworth, Citizens Advice is seeing unprecedented numbers of people needing support with food and essentials, and struggling with energy and council tax debt. And this is an unequal crisis - with disabled people or racially minoritised groups more likely to need a food bank referral than other groups.

Social Protection programs provide targeted support to individuals and families who are in need or facing hardship, often in the form of cash transfers, food assistance, housing assistance, or other forms of material support. These programs are typically means-tested, meaning eligibility is based on income or assets. #GreenResilience #HouseAssistance
