How were you taught’Shape’ at school? Did ‘barking names’ at images and plastic representations feature highly? It’s only later in the later primary years, typically when we rotate right-angles triangle or a square, that we realise we’ve not taught ‘shape’ at all. ‘Consistency’ needs to mean ‘consistent investment ’ in high-quality training to improve teacher subject knowledge. More often than not, it currently means ‘fidelity to a scheme’. 😔 I’m commited to giving every educator of 3-6 year olds, the Maths subject knowledge and pedagogical understanding to teach with skill, confidence and passion.
