Scientists are attempting to develop a revolutionary means of food production called electro-agriculture that circumvents the traditional mode of photosynthesis. It produces acetate using sun power, and plants can be grown without light. Land use is cut down an astonishing 94% in comparison to traditional farming. This breakthrough is transformative for agriculture since it decreases immensely the need for such deforestation and pesticides for farming activities thus recovering the environment. It requires little area and can open new possibilities for sustainable farming in areas that are not naturally easy for traditional agriculture. Under its developmental phase, promising results show from organisms like mushrooms and algae, now giving a glimpse of having potential for commercialization. So, with progressing research, this method may lead to a more resilient and environment-friendly approach towards food production. . . . #ElectroAgriculture #SustainableFarming #FoodInnovation #EnvironmentalRestoration #AgricultureTech #FutureOfFood #CleanEnergy #EcoFriendlyFarming #InnovativeAgriculture #GreenTechnology #Tribunetrends

I share work developed during my PhD recently presented at the 2nd International Online Conference on Agriculture Managing agricultural pests is a constant challenge, especially with Spodoptera littoralis causing significant damage. This study presented the ethanolic extract of Achyrocline satureioides as a promising biological control. This South American plant has effective insecticidal properties, reducing the reliance on chemical pesticides and promoting more sustainable agriculture. The extract is biodegradable and has a low environmental impact, benefiting farmers, ecosystems, and consumers. https://lnkd.in/dX_2tYt5 #SustainableAgriculture #AgriculturalInnovation #pestcontrol

Hello Growtech Friends! 🌿 Did you know the tide is turning in global agribusiness towards sustainable farming? While pesticides and chemical fertilizers have their perks, their environmental and health impacts can't be ignored. Deutsche-Welle's 2022 research highlights a concerning trend: agricultural workers in Asia are facing increasing risks, with 255 cases of poisoning per million annually. Globally, there's a 44% chance of agricultural workers suffering from poisoning at least once a year, not to mention the adverse effects on our vital biodiversity, including bees and birds. But here's a silver lining: the agricultural sector is awakening to the urgency of sustainability. More and more farmers are shifting towards organic practices, minimizing the use of harmful chemicals to protect our soil and ecosystems. The focus is now on developing farming systems that are not only efficient but also friendly to our planet. Let’s rally together for this green revolution at Growtech 2024! Support sustainable agriculture for a healthier planet and future. 🌍 - #GrowtechJKT2024 #JakartaGrowtech #AgInnovationID #IndonesiaAgtech #GrowSEAforSoutheastAsia #AgriInnovation #SustainableFarming #SmartAgriculture #AgriTechRevolution #FutureOfFarming #EcoFriendlyAgri #AgriBusinessGrowth #FarmingForTheFuture #GreenAgriculture #farmtotable #agriculture #agribusiness #farmlife #farmer #sustainablefarming

Tomato seed treatment for organic agriculture 🍅 Harmful plant pathogens can originate from infected seeds. Seed treatment aims at reducing these seed-borne pathogens. In organic farming, this cannot be done with chemical solutions. Products based on microbial consortia (MCs) and natural compounds (NCs) are currently being studied as sustainable alternative. 👉Learn more about organic seed treatment methods: https://lnkd.in/gdNVqtMS Università di Catania #organictomato #seedtreatment #naturalcompounds #plantpathogens #organicfarming #sustainability

🌾🚜🌽Inefficient nitrogen use in #agriculture is wreaking havoc on #nature. ✒️📝In this editorial published in the journal Science of the Total Environment, CREAF researcher Estela Romero concludes that while the massive use of nitrogen in agriculture fertilizers boosts yields, inefficient systems mean we lose around 80% of #nitrogen outputs. This entails a long list of negative impacts, from eutrophication to #soil acidification and increased greenhouse gas emissions.
