At #ghd, we celebrate, value and empower our people. To recognise everyone's hard work and efforts, the Leeds office put on a summer party hosted at the If Rooftop in the city centre. The sun was shining, and everyone danced the night away whilst enjoying a few drinks and some delicious BBQ food. It was great to see the whole team having a wonderful evening to kick off the start of summer ☀️ #LifeAtghd #culture

At Caledon Meals on Wheels, we celebrate the diversity in our community. We believe everyone, no matter who they are or what they’ve been through, deserves respect and inclusion. Alongside our commitment to diversity and equity, we provide a range of programs and services that promote nutrition, wellness, and social interaction. We’re committed to making sure everyone feels welcome and has the same chances. That means taking real action to break down barriers and treat everyone fairly. Through our programs and services, we aim to not only nourish the body but also foster connections and well-being among our community members. We’re always learning and training to make sure our organization is a place of empathy and understanding. We want to be allies to everyone, no matter their background. We know it’s important to listen to different perspectives and make sure everyone’s voice is heard. Our goal is to create a safe and supportive space for everyone, no matter their race, gender, or anything else. Together, we’re building a community where diversity is celebrated, fairness is important, and everyone can succeed. We believe by working together, we can make positive changes that help us all. We’re committed to: -Fighting against discrimination and inequality -Teaching and learning about diversity, fairness, and inclusion -Making sure our workplace and programs are safe and welcoming -Providing services that respect everyone To us, diversity means all the different things that make us who we are, like our culture, age, or beliefs. Equity means treating everyone fairly, even if it means treating them differently. Inclusion means making sure everyone feels like they belong and can be their best selves. And access means making sure everyone can use our services easily and without any barriers. We’re always working to understand different cultures and perspectives, and we know that discrimination and oppression are real problems that we need to fight against. By sticking to these values, we hope to make our society fairer and more inclusive for everyone. https://lnkd.in/gGk8X8ez #mealdelivery #frozenmealdelivery #seniorsocialprograms #friendlyvisiting #securitychecks

Yesterday we had a fantastic opportunity to take a lunchtime walk and explore the rich parkland, as well as visit the beehives at work, all thanks to Adapt by ARC. Our team values align closely with those of honeybees: Clear Roles: Just like a bee colony, our team thrives on each member playing a crucial role. Communication and Collaboration: Essential for success, both in the hive and in our projects. Relying on Each Other and Splitting Up Tasks: We achieve more together by dividing and conquering. Trusting One Another: Trust is the foundation of our teamwork. Resilience and Adaptability: We adapt to challenges and remain resilient, just like bees. #TeamValues #Collaboration #Resilience #Trust #BeeInspired 🐝🌿

Families bonding by cooking together. Modern families have no time for each others. Every man, woman, and latchkey kids to fend for themselves. Traditional gender roles and nucleus family structure are on life support? Meta AI response to my dilemma. A thought-provoking statement! You're highlighting the decline of family bonding and traditional family structures. Here's a breakdown: - Families bonding through cooking: A lost art, as busy schedules leave little time for shared activities. - Modern families' lack of time: Everyone's too busy, leaving individuals to fend for themselves. - Latchkey kids: Left to care for themselves, missing out on nurturing and guidance. - Traditional gender roles: No longer clearly defined, causing confusion and conflict. - Nucleus family structure: Struggling to survive, as alternative family forms emerge. This raises concerns about: - Emotional well-being and support within families. - The impact of busy schedules on relationships and dynamics. - The need for adapted family structures and gender roles. Potential solutions: - Prioritize family time and shared activities. - Encourage flexible work arrangements and family-friendly policies. - Foster open communication and emotional support within families. - Embrace diverse family structures and gender roles. .. A profound observation! You're highlighting the etymology of "relationship" and the modern dynamics of human connections. Key points: 1. The root word "relate" implies a deep connection and understanding. 2. Modern men and women spend more time with coworkers than with each other, leading to: - Neglect of personal relationships - Lack of emotional investment and intimacy - Potential for resentment and conflict (hate) instead of love and understanding This raises questions about: 1. The impact of work-life balance on personal relationships 2. The importance of prioritizing emotional connections and intimacy 3. The need for effective communication and conflict resolution skills Potential solutions: 1. Make time for regular, meaningful interactions with your partner 2. Prioritize emotional intelligence and empathy in your relationships 3. Establish clear boundaries and expectations in your work-life balance 4. Cultivate healthy communication and conflict resolution skills Males and females all have 24 hours plates (fair) A stark reality check! You're highlighting the challenging trade-offs between work and personal life. Key points: 1. The false promise of "work-life balance" - it's often a choice between one or the other. 2. Pursuing both full-time can lead to burnout, causing emotional and physical exhaustion. 3. The vivid metaphor of "sticking a fork in yourself" illustrates the feeling of being "done" or depleted. This raises important questions about: 1. Societal expectations and pressures to excel in both work and personal life. 2. The need for self-care and prioritization. 3. The importance of setting realistic boundaries.

I help leaders narrow the gap between their aspirations and their organization’s ability to achieve them. Advisor, Hospitality Consultant, Coach, Speaker, Author. Former Managing Partner, Union Square Hospitality Group.
Thanks to Brian Konopka and the Institute of Culinary Education for inviting me to speak on the power of building community. I shared stories and learnings from my time at Union Square Hospitality Group, where Danny Meyer challenged us to engage with the community within and beyond our four walls. At USHG, we brought people together around food, creating connections that extended far beyond our restaurants. The more we engaged, the more support we received, and the more resilient our business became. It was a powerful, virtuous cycle. This approach led to unexpected opportunities, including our partnership with the Beth Israel Hospice. What started as a small idea grew into a company-wide initiative that served patients and their families for 15 years. It took the dedication of scores of volunteers, and the road was not always smooth – but we impacted thousands of lives (including our own!) in ways we could never have imagined. We created a supportive community during life's most challenging moments, once again bringing people together around food. Are you considering community work but unsure where to start? Think about something that matters to you and reach out to someone doing that work. Putting your intentions out there allows the universe to respond in extraordinary ways. You might find yourself making a difference beyond anything you envisioned. #business #hospitality #hospitalityindustry #leadership #management #restaurants #restaurantbusiness #community #bars #purpose #culture #communitybuilding #poweroffood #givingback #unexpectedjourneys Maynard Consulting
