A strange day indeed... Amidst preparations for an upcoming event and the hand-over to my wonderful team, it escaped me that yesterday marked my 2-year anniversary at Nike. It's a bittersweet moment, leaving me with conflicted feelings. While celebrating this milestone doesn't feel like an ending, it's a time for reflection on the year gone by and anticipation for what lies ahead.
Yesterday, during my 1-on-1 with my beloved manager Cindy Joris, the significance of the day was brought to my attention. It was a pause in the hectic pace of the day, a moment to acknowledge the journey.
One aspect of my role required speaking in front of large groups, a challenge I initially struggled with.
I vividly remember trembling like a leaf, notes nearly shaking out of my hands. However, I persisted. At one point, a colleague from the scrum community approached me Jan Rauter, candidly addressing my struggle. He provided invaluable coaching, and with persistence and time, I improved significantly. Today, I no longer lay awake with anxiety days in advance. Having his guidance was truly invaluable for my process. Though he's moved on from the scrum community at Nike, he'll always be part of the Nike family. Their support, along with the camaraderie and encouragement of my team, formed the foundation upon which I built my achievements at Nike.
Looking back, I am filled with deep gratitude for the journey shared with my incredible team. Together, we faced deadlines, navigated challenges, and celebrated victories, forming bonds that will endure beyond my time here.
As I reflect on yesterday's realization I am reminded of the journey we've shared. Looking forward was rather painful yesterday, but tears will come on June 28th, when I bid goodbye to my team.
For now, I choose gratitude. Over these past 2 years, I've experienced exponential growth, both professionally and personally.
My diverse position at Nike provided a unique opportunity for development, beyond a specific skill set.
Here's to cherishing the present, embracing what's next, and forever grateful for the past that shaped me.
