I had an interesting experience at a food outlet where they use ordering kiosks. These kiosks were Android based, with the food ordering app active on it. While ordering I might have pressed a few buttons :) and the unexpected happened. The food ordering app went into the background and the Android home screen showed up with all the default system apps visible and available. I wonder why the solution provider didn't think of this problem. Such a poor user experience and a clear source of revenue loss. Imagine a not so tech savvy patron enters the store and they don't see the app, what are they going to do. Also the staff won't know until someone flags the issue and even then they have to physically walk over to the kiosk and launch the app, until next time it happens again. I know the solution for this problem is to use something like SureLock and its Single App Kiosk Mode feature, but the broader point is that there are so many right tools available for so many problems that we encounter here and there. Probably, it is just the lack of knowledge, or we just don’t even realize there is a problem, let alone look for a solution.
