What does home insurance cover? 🤔 Not all property insurance policies are the same as they are not standardized in Ontario, so pre-packaged or customized plans will vary in coverage and cost. You can be protected against all perils, or specific items that you list, so you can get the coverage you need in case of damage or loss caused by fire, lightning, storms, theft, or other risks. Here's an idea of what you might include in your homeowners insurance: 👉Your home 👉Personal property that you and your family own including furniture, electronics, clothes and more. 👉Detached structures such as sheds and garages. 👉Living expenses in the event you need to find a new place to live temporarily while your home is restored or repaired. 👉Liability for damages caused to neighbours' properties and injuries they sustain #homeinsurance #insurancecoverage

🔑 Homeowners insurance is an important part of protecting your home and possessions. There are several factors that can affect the cost of your homeowners’ insurance, including: 👷♂️ Location – Premiums will be higher in areas where there is a higher risk of natural disasters, such as hurricanes or flooding. 🏠 Age of Home – Older homes may require more coverage due to their age and the potential for damage. 🔧 Building Materials – Homes built with sturdier materials like brick or concrete will generally have lower premiums than those with less durable materials like wood. 😎 Security Features – Installing additional security features such as deadbolts, smoke detectors, and burglar alarms can help lower the cost of your insurance. 🏭 Distance to Fire Station – The closer you are to a fire station, the lower your premiums will be. 📝 Remember, it pays to shop around and compare policies from different companies so that you can find the right coverage for your budget and needs.🏠️

NY Times: No more home owner insurance in US? * Climate change is causing more frequent and severe weather events across the United States, which is wreaking havoc on the homeowners insurance market. * In the past, homeowners insurance companies considered certain weather events, like hail storms and wind storms, to be minor and not financially risky. However, these events are becoming so common that they are now causing significant financial losses for insurance companies. * As a result, insurance companies are raising premiums, dropping customers, and refusing to write new policies in some states. This is making it difficult for many homeowners to obtain affordable insurance. * There are two possible solutions to this problem. One is for the government to provide subsidies to insurance companies so that they can continue to offer affordable homeowners insurance. The other solution is for the government to create a national flood insurance program, similar to the one that already exists for flood insurance. * However, both of these solutions have drawbacks. Subsidies would be very expensive, and a national homeowners insurance program could incentivize people to build in high-risk areas. https://lnkd.in/dT34XAqZ
