In a compelling article from POWER magazine, Senior Editor Sonal Patel highlights the critical transformer supply chain crisis. She notes, “Facing unprecedented lead times and skyrocketing costs, the transformer supply chain crisis threatens the backbone of the electric power industry, driving urgent calls for increased manufacturing capacity and innovative solutions. Can the industry rise to the challenge?” At Jordan Transformer, we are fully dedicated to remanufacturing as our answer to this lead time crisis. Remanufactured transformers not only have a quicker turnaround time but also provide a reliable solution with reduced risk. If your original unit lasted 30 years, you can expect the same longevity from your remanufactured unit. #remanufacturing #substationtransformers #yourtransformersyourway https://lnkd.in/gZWh7rkP

How a transformer shortage threatens the grid? A transformer shortage can threaten the grid in several ways. Transformers play a critical role in the transmission and distribution of electricity, and a shortage of transformers can result in the following threats to the grid: Reliability: A shortage of transformers can lead to an increased risk of power outages and grid instability. Without enough transformers to efficiently transfer and distribute electricity, the reliability of the grid can be compromised.Vulnerability to disruptions: A shortage of transformers can make the grid more vulnerable to disruptions caused by events such as severe weather, equipment failures, or cyberattacks. If there are not enough transformers to handle sudden changes in demand or to provide backup capacity, the grid may struggle to maintain stability during such disruptions. Economic impact: A transformer shortage can have significant economic implications, as power outages and grid instability can disrupt business operations, manufacturing processes, and essential services, leading to financial losses and negative impacts on local and regional economies. Delayed infrastructure upgrades: A shortage of transformers may delay or hinder the implementation of grid modernization and expansion projects, which are necessary to meet growing electricity demand, integrate renewable energy sources, and improve overall grid resiliency.Overall, a shortage of transformers can compromise the overall performance and resilience of the grid, making it essential to address and mitigate such shortages through proactive planning, investment in transformer manufacturing and supply chain resilience, and strategic grid management. #trafodesign, #electricaldesign , #electricalengineering , #transformertrainings, #transformerrepair, #transformer , #distributiontransformer , #powertransformer

The application of capacitor banks and its controlling philosophy is different from location to location. For an end consumer it is used as a power factor corrector that helps to reduce his demand and avoid penalties from the energy supplier. For a distribution company, the capacitors installed at intermediate locations on distribution line reduce line losses hence increases line capacities and improve the bus bar voltage. For a transmission company, the intention is not only to reduce loses or increase line capacities but also to give voltage support which is an inherent system problem under heavily loaded conditions and to further delay investment costs on augmenting line and substation capacities.
