🗞 Did you know there are draft changes in the Paternity leave legislation, which are set to take effect from 6th April 2024. Employers should start now to understand the rules and to implement the necessary changes to ensure compliance. Changes will also need to be made to other family-related policies such as revisions to flexible working rights, the extension of the protected period following pregnancy and maternity leave, and the introduction of carers’ leave. Your business should be reviewing all relevant policies, procedures, and systems, and communicating the changes to entitlements to employees. Need assistance? For advice and support on the proposed changes and how they could affect your organization, why not contact us 📞 01952263973 ✉ enquiries@shawthorpe.co.uk

Some changes that will affect new working dads are coming next month. The Paternity Leave (Amendment) Regulations 2024 will allow employees to split their allowance. The amendment means new fathers can now take their two-week paternity leave as two separate blocks of one week. They will also be able to take their leave at any time in the 52 weeks after childbirth and to only give 28 days’ notice of their intention to go on leave. These changes will apply where the expected week of childbirth is on or after April 6, 2024.
