The PHA Ecosystem: A Symphony of Love and Care for the Planet
PHAmily: This is not just a product line but a representation of PhaBuilder’s mission to provide green solutions. Over 20 years of relentless research into PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates) has led to the creation of the PHAmily - an ensemble of sustainable materials and products encompassing PHB, PHBV, PHBHHx, P34HB, various homo-, co- and block polymers and beyond (Fig. 1). This family demonstrates the company’s commitment to offering diverse green solutions for various industries. It embodies an array of sustainable materials and products that aim to serve various industries, emphasizing the company’s dedication to environmental care and love for the globe.
PHAbrary: A vast repository of PHA knowledge, PHAbrary stands as a testament to PhaBuilder’s commitment to spearheading green innovation and helping industries transition to sustainable solutions
PHAdustry: Encompassing the extensive industrial production and applications of the PHAmily, it’s an initiative that hopes to instill a new ethos in industries, one that prioritizes the environment and high- value added applications.
PHAlife: Beyond a concept, it’s PhaBuilder’s promise to integrate sustainable solutions into our daily routines. PHAlife is their commitment to making green living accessible and tangible for all.

At nova-Institut GmbH's Advanced Recycling Conference, there was a question on how much capacity is available for a certain company's pyrolysis technology. The answer was "a few drops" in context with the current fossil-based cracking capacity in comparison. It made me think of the renewable chemical industry in general - yes, the industry capacity for this sector is a mere drop compared to the fossil-based petrochemical capacity worldwide. But continuous drips can carve enough hole to fracture the fossil-based market. I've been covering this space for 23 years and I remain optimistic. 🌳 ♻ 👩🔬 #ARC2023#Biobased#Renewable#LowCarbon
🚀 #Siemens and #BASF are driving sustainable circular economy! 🌍
Together we presented the first electrical safety product that includes components made from biomass-balanced plastics. The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV2 circuit breaker now uses Ultramid® BMBcertTM and Ultradur® BMBcertTM from BASF, replacing fossil feedstock at the beginning of the value chain with biomethane derived from renewable sources such as agricultural waste.🌱
Thanks to this material changeover, around 270 tons of CO2 equivalents will be saved annually. The SIRIUS 3RV2 is one of the first products covered by the recently launched Siemens EcoTech label. ♻️
💡The calculation of Product Carbon Footprint of materials is according to TfS Methodology and compares the CO2 reduction of the BASF Biomass Balanced product vs the conventional BASF product. 💡
