1️⃣ Now's the time that we need to share So find yourself, we're on our way back home 1️⃣ Supertramp’s ‘Give a little bit’ always hits. Catchy? Yah. Amazingly covered by the Goo Goo Dolls? Umm yah. Indicative of how we might tackle the season ahead? Oh, heck yah. Tomorrow marks the last day of First Born’s Week, a thing entirely made up by Ziggy and me so that we can champion and celebrate our favorite first borns in my wife and son. This is our 3rd first born’s week. And, as the romantics of the family, we love the chance to creatively celebrate our people. Maybe… just maybe… there are interesting transitions from first born’s week to how nonprofit marketers and fundraisers relate to donors… 1️⃣ Be intentional. Celebrate those that invest in you. When we celebrate FBW, we find creative ways to show our first born’s that they are appreciated. 1️⃣ Go beyond the base line. Some things are table stakes… simple acknowledgements… general thank you’s. We think of FBW as a way to highlight the uniqueness of our people. We want them to be seen, heard and felt. 1️⃣ Model generosity. It truly is better to give than receive. Giving of our time and talents to celebrate others has a massive return. This is applicable in our families… our teams… and in how we relate to donors. It’s not too late. You can celebrate First Born’s Week tomorrow… or the next day… or whenever.
