The concept of Alternative Assessment was introduced in 1996 during the kingship of Birendra BB Shah, plainly, before I was even born. However, in 2024, I still sit for a 4-hour written exam that too at an MPhil-PhD level. The condition is more ominous for undergrad and grad students with issues like getting entangled for 6 years for a 4-year degree, results getting published after 15 months, unanticipated grades and whatnot. Over the past few weeks, our mentors in the QUBE Consultants Ltd. mentorship program have not only shared their expertise and wisdom but also their genuine care and passion for equipping us grow both personally and professionally. Their invaluable insights have broadened my perspectives, challenged me to push beyond my comfort zone, and equipped me with the tools and confidence to tackle challenges head-on. 💪 #QMP24
This week we start the 4th week of our mentorship program with an amazing and talented batch of 12 young men and women from across various institutions of learning: University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), The Technical University of Kenya and Kabete National Polytechnic. This week also marks the mid-point of a program that has been intense, but also fun and very informative for both the mentors and the mentees: from aspects of personal development (character building, etiquette, cultural development, etc.) to professional development (knowledge-sharing and an in-depth review of the Standard Methods of Measurements – June 2008 Edition – published by the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) . It has also been exciting to learn the different talents and hobbies the participants have outside of their careers in the construction industry. The future looks very bright for this cohort! #QMP24

So happy to share with you my latest collaboration with Victor Ihuka and Loni Crumb, extending the Rural Cultural Wealth framework internationally, starting in Nigeria. Rural communities have wealth that they can activate to uplift rural communities. The Rural Cultural Wealth framework identifies rural resourcefulness, ingenuity, familialism, and unity as core assets in rural communities -assets that can be leveraged to improve education and health outcomes. https://lnkd.in/eqF-uTEe
