Another week, another event or two! This week I'm off to Melbourne where Enterprising Girls will once again partner with HEX to deliver Exponential Careers Workshops to students at Toorak College, Mt Eliza and Port Melbourne Secondary College. These workshops really light me up and also find me reflecting on my own career path. It's been anything but linear and I don't ever really remember sitting down and mapping out where I wanted to be. But OH! is has been an adventure. The girl in this picture (on the night of her Year 12 graduation) had no idea what she wanted to do, but the path she ultimately took led her to some incredible places. My advice to any young person considering what to do when they finish school is this: 1. Work out what you love to do and focus on doing more of that - chances are you're probably pretty good at what you love, so play to your strengths. 2. Be curious, take the left and right turns and know you can always return to your planned path. The magic happens on the side streets! Trust me! 3. Consider everyone you meet to be a teacher. If you're open to it, people you meet by chance can sometimes change your life (or they can introduce you to someone who will). Looking back on my career to date, I can honestly say it's the moments when I've bet on myself, or took an unplanned turn, or simply said 'yes', that have provided me with far-reaching opportunities I never imagined. #careerseducation

✨ Story time ✨ As some of my colleagues and friends know, I worked within Early years for the best part of four years. A lot of the time, It will come up in a conversation with a candidate, and they will always ask: why did I make such a drastic switch in my career? I think it doesn't come as a surprise that there will always be flaws within the education systems, but I believe it always comes down to the people within these systems; for two reasons: 1- The people who do care don't have the ability/confidence to voice this, or feel as though their voice isn't loud enough. 2- They don't care I was option 1... Throughout my career I was surrounded by colleagues who were uninterested to make a change, couldn't be bothered to put in the effort/ do their job OR (my favorite), fell in to the job, hated it... but continued to stay and negatively impact the development of our future generations. However, working in education recruitment means that I now have the opportunity to shape this system from the outside. My day consists of speaking with likeminded people who are in it for the right reasons! I have the ability to place educators that can positively impact and train students gaining their early years qualifications- therefore positively improving the development of our future generations 💖 (who, by the way, will be looking after us when were old 😉) If you want to be that person who wants to make a difference, or perhaps you've decided to grow a pair and upgrade your staff, reach out now! It all starts with you 🤝 ❗ 'Dovetail and slate', remember it, share it, be apart of it ❗ Call now on 01174522702

Creative Strategist + Empathetic Storyteller 📝 | Passionate About Social Change ✊ | Redefining Professionalism 🚀 | Cake Boss Alum 🍰 | T1D 🩸
⭐️ Career Day Update! ⭐️ I accepted the invite to speak at my kids' school for Career Day. I decided to share my non-linear career journey—from being a cake artist with "Cake Boss" to a creative strategist in social impact. Of course, I'll be showing some cool cakes... and discussing how careers don’t have to follow a straight line. My goal is to inspire the kids to redefine what it means to be professional and to find careers that blend creativity with making a difference. I’d love your feedback on my draft presentation! Any tips to make it more engaging and inspiring for 2nd to 6th graders? (Seriously, they're a tough crowd!)

🎙️New interview alert! Lorraine Godden, PhD Godden recently discussed the importance of early career-related learning in grades 4-6 on iHeartRadio Newstalk Tonight! 📚 In her insightful interview, Dr. Godden explores how young students perceive the word "career" and why it's crucial to broaden their understanding beyond visible jobs. Dr. Godden shares: "Career is actually rooted in the Latin word "carus" which refers to a chariot or cart, a means of travel and journeying. Those of us that work in the career field, understand career to be about life, learning AND work. So, work and jobs are a component of career but they're not everything." Tune in at 30:44 to hear the full interview and gain valuable insights on how early career education can better prepare children for future decisions. 🚀 🔗 Listen to the interview and read the full publication here: ceric.ca/possibilities
