AI scenario planning - how AI can affect your business Deloitte's most recent piece on AI provides four possible scenarios for how generative AI could impact enterprises by 2027, based on two key uncertainties: stakeholder outcomes (shared vs. unequal growth) and achieving performance objectives. Key takeaways from the piece: The four scenarios are: - Growth with costs: Gen AI drives efficiency and growth but also job losses and eroded trust - The bubble bursts: Gen AI fails to meet expectations, leading to market downturn - Advancement depends on humans: Slower adoption paired with process improvements yields benefits - All systems go: Gen AI unleashes widespread innovation and growth across industries Deloitte flags some strategies for organizations to prepare for uncertainty and help organizations pressure-test their gen AI strategies and make them more resilient by considering multiple possible futures: - Focusing gen AI investments on solving the biggest business problems - Pairing technology investments with process improvements and work redesign - Investing in workforce learning, development and trust-building - Adopting more continuous and holistic workforce planning approaches - Ensuring transparency in performance management and AI strategies - Cultivating cultures of continuous learning and innovation Deloitte notes that while gen AI presents significant opportunities, organizations need to be mindful of potential risks like job displacement, skill erosion, cybersecurity threats, and erosion of worker trust. The pace of change with gen AI is expected to accelerate, requiring organizations to be adaptable and focus on both technological capabilities and human skills. Further, transparency, ethical considerations, and fair distribution of AI benefits across stakeholders will be crucial for successful long-term adoption. #ai #innovation

McKinsey & Company has just published an interesting article on Gen AI. They estimate that it could offer savings opportunities of $1.4 trillion to $2.6 trillion across operations functions, including customer service, R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and procurement, alongside its impact on the back office. The key piece of text for me is: "Companies can benefit from addressing the deployment of gen AI as a transformation, not merely a technological advance. This calls for focusing on the business challenge, not the technology itself. In other words, companies identify the exact business challenge gen AI could address and then verify that a more efficient solution cannot already come from traditional AI, internal rules, or organizational shifts. Deploying gen AI for its own sake will not yield tangible business results and could even become a fruitless distraction.” What does my network think? 💥 My name is Paul. 🔺Supporting you to achieve better Transformation & Change business outcomes. AI is not just another tech trend. It’s changing the way we work and live. As Ron Miller shares in this TechCrunch article, this shift not only challenges our relationship with technology, but how we embrace the change AI brings. While many people will be excited to embrace AI, there are many who remain skeptical. That’s why, as leaders we should help bring people along the journey, so they see AI as enhancing—rather than threatening—their roles. At ServiceNow, we see AI as a way to unlock human potential. We want to listen to our people, address any concerns, and show how AI empowers them to focus on the high-value, creative work they love. We invest in AI training so our people can learn new skills, grow their careers, and achieve their aspirations. Change is never easy. But I believe HR leaders—working closely with CEOs and C-suite partners—hold the responsibility to put AI to work for our people. We need to help our organizations make the leap. AI has the power to unleash a human renaissance and inspire the boundless creativity of people. Are you in? Take the quiz linked in the comment below to see where you are in your AI maturity.

🚀 Embracing Change: Transforming with AI 🌐 In today's fast-paced technological world, change isn't just a constant—it's a vital catalyst for growth and innovation. Over the past 15 years, organizations have integrated transformative technologies like mobile, cloud, and Big Data. Now, artificial intelligence stands at the forefront, offering incredible potential and profound challenges. AI reveals a striking duality: its supporters argue it enhances efficiency and improves quality of life, while skeptics warn of the pitfalls of unchecked development and a potential loss of human agency. Today’s AI systems predominantly function as pattern recognizers, generating derivative content that raises questions about accuracy—issues often termed "AI hallucinations." This challenges our ability to trust AI outputs, making it imperative for businesses to differentiate between credible and unreliable information sources. Resistance to change is a natural response, one that can reveal the intricacies of any transformation initiative. True change occurs when dissatisfaction with the current state, a clear vision of desirability, and practicality outweigh perceived costs. If any of these factors are weak, resistance will persist, hindering progress. This is especially true in organizations struggling with technical debt and outdated legacy systems. As a leader, it’s crucial to remember that technology is simply a tool; and the essence of transformation lies in the people behind it. AI is often seen as a threat to jobs; however, it can enhance rather than replace our workforce. However, the successful integration of AI into an organization requires more than just technology adoption; it necessitates a cultural shift. Embracing collaboration, allowing experimentation, and fostering open communication create environments where the desire for change surpasses resistance. Ultimately, organizations that prioritize empathy, articulate a clear “why,” and nurture a culture of continuous learning will not only adapt to change but thrive in uncertain times. As we embark on this transformative journey, let’s keep in mind that people are our greatest asset. By harnessing the power of AI while ensuring employees feel valued and engaged, organizations can set a new standard for success. Share your thoughts on AI's evolving role in the workplace! #AI #ChangeManagement #OrganizationalCulture #FutureOfWork
