He’s defying expectations, and so should we all. Let me tell you why. My dad goes to the gym 5 times a week. He lifts heavier weights than most people in their 20s. He enjoys rock concerts with his friends, staying up all night. Then, he wakes up at 5:30 AM to drive over 10 hours for work. For some, he’s "crazy." For others, his energy and drive are nothing short of inspiring. But for many people I know, they wouldn't even consider doing half of what he does, regardless of their age. Yet, because of his age, he'd be dismissed as not "fit" for many opportunities. (And you wouldn't believe his age anyway, I assure you!) He, like many others, might not be the "ideal candidate" on paper, with the "right" age, background or trendy degree, but those labels are limiting. The reality is, age, experience, and personality shouldn’t be barriers. It’s the uniqueness, the drive, and the grit that set people apart. It’s the ability to see beyond the surface and recognize potential where others might not. In fact, it's often the people who are different, who have lived life from a perspective outside the norm, that bring the most valuable insights and contributions. Bill Gates dropped out of college. Walt Disney was not considered creative. Oprah wasn't considered "TV material". All it takes is someone willing to believe in them. Let’s challenge our assumptions. The best candidates don’t always fit the mold, but their vision is the real strength. Faith in the mission. PS: Role models don't say. They do. And we follow by example. #Resilience #BreakingBarriers #DiversityMatters #AgeIsJustANumber #Leadership #ExperienceOverAge #FaithInTheMission

If Oprah Winfrey hadn’t been fired from her first job as a TV anchor, she might never have gone on to become the powerhouse we know today. That moment was a turning point, pushing her toward a new direction, ultimately leading to her iconic career. Steve Jobs was ousted from Apple, the company he co-founded, but he returned later and transformed it into one of the most valuable brands in the world. J.K. Rowling faced multiple rejections from publishers before *Harry Potter* finally got its chance. What’s common in these stories? Resilience and the willingness to embrace change. Sometimes, life redirects us not because we’re on the wrong path, but because we’re meant for something greater. 2025 is just a few weeks away, and it’s natural to reflect on the year 2024 and think about the goals that you didn’t accomplish. Maybe you faced unexpected challenges—like: - losing your job - dropping out of school due to financial struggles - shutting down a business because of rising costs From the success stories you read, know that you are not alone. Building resilience doesn’t mean you won’t feel the weight of setbacks; it means you’ll find the strength to rise again. Life is about bouncing back. As we near the end of the year, take a moment to reevaluate your goals. Are they still aligned with what you want? If you find you’re off track, don’t beat yourself up. Adjust your expectations, break your goals into smaller, more achievable steps, and allow yourself to grow at your own pace. Happy New Month! #linkedin #success

Reflecting on my two-decade journey, particularly during Black Fridays and holiday seasons, the past two years have marked a unique shift as I distanced myself from the usual hustle. The absence of the adrenaline rush, once synonymous with this time of year, prompted me to adapt to a different pace. While my current pursuits keep me engaged, my body still yearns for that seasonal vigor, a reminder of the fast-paced environment I once thrived in. Leaving my dream role 14 months ago to embark on a new path has been a continuous learning experience. Transitioning from an expert in my previous field to a novice in my current position has been humbling. Each step in this fresh journey necessitates proving myself anew and striving for excellence, a challenge I tackle with unwavering determination. I've discovered that effective leadership and vision are transferable across different environments. Consistency, firmness, fairness, and follow-through always yield success. I will say I have zero regrets in my choice to chase a new dream and transitioning FT to the marine industry. It has been wonderful and I am grateful for my team and the leadership In which I am learning from! Approaching the new year, I am more enthusiastic than ever about this fresh beginning. With the boat show season and new boat delivery season on the horizon, I look forward to applying the lessons from the past year to elevate my performance in the upcoming months. As one year closes out, a new one begins... One thing is for certain, if you are given the chance to hire a successful tenured big box retail leader for your business, I'd highly recommend it. The skills they likely have learned and their ability to lead through influence will likely impact your business in the long term. As this holiday season comes to an end, and many retailers ready to shutter their doors or a leader has decided 2024 was their last season in retail, give them a shot and, at the very least, conduct an interview. I can assure you will be shocked to hear the stories.

Where You Begin is Not Where You Finish. Agree? My journey has been full of unexpected twists. When I face obstacles, I often think of those who started with even greater challenges and turned them into opportunities: - Oprah Winfrey: From a troubled childhood to becoming a media mogul and philanthropist. - JK Rowling: From struggling as a single mom to creating the beloved Harry Potter series. - Walt Disney: From bankruptcy to building an entertainment empire that changed the world. - Michael Jordan: Cut from his high school team to becoming one of the greatest basketball players of all time. - Albert Einstein: Once considered a slow learner, he went on to revolutionize physics. - Abraham Lincoln: From a log cabin to the presidency, guiding a nation through its darkest times. Each of their stories reminds us that our beginnings don’t define our futures. As Lincoln wisely said, "The best way to predict your future is to create it." I know this firsthand. In my 38-year career, I’ve reinvented myself three times after job losses. Each time, I refused to let setbacks define me. Instead, I embraced the challenges and discovered new paths and skills. I’ve learned that every setback can be a setup for something greater. So, if you’re facing a tough moment, remember: your starting point doesn’t determine your destination. Keep moving forward, and don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself. Sincerely, Sam #LifeJourney #BusinessGrowth #Inspiration #Resilience #EmbraceChange
