What are the biggest misconceptions about being a #fundraiser? I'll go first. People always seem to think of fundraising as a SALES activity. Like, we're trying to convince someone to make a purchasing decision, or market them into doing something they otherwise wouldn't do. But, donors are not consumers, they are not buying something. Philanthropy is an entirely different economic activity, and rests on relationships, partnerships and care, not consumerism and transactions. Fundraising isn't sales, but people often see (and mistrust) it as such. What would you say are the biggest misconceptions about this work?

🤔 Why do I do what I do? Having a purpose beyond profit looks at why your business does what it does beyond making money. I have always enjoyed what I do, whether it was nursing, business development, marketing or mentoring there has always been a common thread of wanting to make a difference. Over the years, I have come to learn more about myself and experience has showed me what matters to me and a space where I can create the impact I was looking to make. I have always preferred a smaller working environment, finding a true sense of purpose in the energy, agility, innovation and connection to help others build strong foundations for sustainable growth. Cempta was established in 2020, to help leaders of small charities to define their impact and access mentoring support that would help them to navigate the specific challenges of a smaller organisation to ensure that no charitable mission is limited by size, but rather amplified by its resilience, passion, and impact.
