Celebrate with us the International Plastic Bag Free Day 🌊🌍   Imagine over 2,000 garbage trucks full of plastic being dumped into our oceans, rivers, and lakes every single day. This staggering reality is the result of our increasing plastic consumption and inadequate waste management. If we don't act now, plastic pollution is expected to triple by 2060. By shifting to more sustainable alternatives, we can make a significant impact. Simple changes in our daily lives, like using reusable bags, bottles, and containers, can help reduce plastic waste and protect our planet for future generations.   Together with our partners, we are committed to plastic waste management and promoting sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics (SUPs). This is how we make a difference:   💬 Spread the word: Our campaigns #RACE in Uttar Pradesh and #MeendumManjappai in Tamil Nadu raised awareness about #SUPs, especially plastic bags, and available alternatives. 🛍️ Shop sustainably: We have installed cloth bag vending machines at central locations in various Indian states. The cloth bags are made by Women Self Help Groups (SHGs). 👩 Empower women: To produce and market alternatives to single-use plastic bags, we have built capacities among #SHGs, with a focus on ensuring product quality, better marketing and financial management. 🧴 Reduce, reuse, refill: We have launched Reduce-Reuse-Refill vehicles that offer a selection of eco-friendly alternatives for everyday items, such as cloth bags, bamboo or jute products. By doing so, we make sustainable products more accessible to all. 👕 Get creative, be fashionable: We support the BhuME - Incubation Centre of St. Theresa College, which recycles tailoring waste into vibrant, reusable bags. With our joint efforts to reduce plastic pollution and promote a sustainable lifestyle, we contribute to the objectives of the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership (#GSDP) between #India and #Germany.   Join us in the fight against plastic pollution! Every small change counts. 💪🌱   #PlasticBagFreeDay #BeatPlasticPollution Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, nukleare Sicherheit und Verbraucherschutz (BMUV) Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India Government of Kerala Government of Tamil Nadu Government of Uttar Pradesh Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH

GIZ India I’m glad to share that we are already part of this campaign of GIZ, as during the launching of GIZ in Uttarakhand, not only the cotton brand bags but also the launching Scroll-Roll made in cotton was made by our SHGs. We are happy to support this ‘’Challenge’’ while getting the support too towards empowering the underprivileged women.
