Sertan Kabadayi, Ph.D., distinguished professor in business and professor of marketing, recently published an article in the International Migration Journal titled "Ethical tensions of migrants in the informal economy in the Global South." In this paper, Prof. Kabadayi and his co-author explore the values, principles, and ethical tensions of Venezuelan migrants in the informal economy of Colombia. Their findings broaden the understanding of why, contrary to general expectations, migrants choose to stay in the informal economy and challenge policy goals that focus on inclusion and integration of migrants into the formal economy. #LEONI_Tunisia has signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Tunisian Association for Management and Social Balance #TAMSS, in the presence of Ms. Monica  NORO, from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (#UNHCR) in Tunisia. This agreement aims to develop #training_programs over a period of 6 months to equip #refugees with skills and provide them with employment #opportunities in global markets. This initiative falls within Leoni's social responsibility framework and complies with Law No. 35 of 2018, enacted on June 11, 2018, concerning #corporate #social #responsibility. It also aims to implement international agreements, including the Geneva Convention of 1951, signed by the Tunisian state on October 24, 1957, especially regarding Article 17 of the Convention, which addresses the economic and #social #integration of refugees and asylum seekers. #LEONI_Tunisia #We_Love_Tunisia #We_Care

GREGBE Amavi Mawoussi: Head of the Division of People and Property at the Directorate of Togolese Abroad, Mr. Amadou Cissé: Expert from the African Institute for Remittances (AIR). The primary objective of this exploratory mission was to discuss and explore potential partnerships regarding the technical establishment of the Togolese National Migration Observatory. Key topics of discussion included: - The importance of changing the narrative around migration to highlight the positive contributions of migrants and the diaspora to economic and social development. - The need for robust, country-specific data to inform analysis and enable sound, fact-based decision-making. - Sharing experiences on the impact of remittances and the contribution of the diaspora to economic and social development. - Effective management of migration flows. - Developing a comprehensive national migration observatory that will also focus on diaspora engagement and economic aspects. The meeting was highly productive and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. Innovation, intellectual property, and migration are critical elements that shape a country's economic landscape, yet policymakers tend to focus on labour migration only and often overlook this interconnectedness. By embracing policies that encourage diaspora innovation and protect intellectual property rights, Ecuador can strengthen its competitive edge and promote economic growth. Skilled emigration has the potential to foster innovation domestically, while treaties and agreements could facilitate diaspora innovation and knowledge transfer. Incorporating these considerations into policymaking aligns with Ecuador's constitutional commitment to human rights and fairness, while also fostering an environment conducive to inclusive growth and sustainable development. This is a calling for professionals within the diaspora to focus on issues related to human rights in trade such as ensuring transparency for all stakeholders, including consumers and creators. This focus not only aligns with Ecuador's values but also contributes to broader civil society goals of promoting transparency and accountability in economic activities when negotiating international treaties. Let's recognize the potential of skilled emigration and diaspora innovation to build a better future for Ecuador. In her publication, she explores the escalating migration crisis in Central America, highlighted by the dramatic increase of nearly 500,000 migrants crossing the Darién Gap by the end of 2023.
