In PNG, district governments need to ensure villages are organized into cooperatives to ease marketing or for production of various commercial crops. Export volumes need require volumes and quality produce, and these must be achieved through collective groups of farmers. However, the idea of farmers coming together in groups is not easy as that seem a new idea. There are specialists who can mobilize villages with special motivational trainings over some time so the farmers can see the importance of cooperative work systems. Let me know..for those who need to settle your people for greater development aspirations...in PNG, development should start from the villages!

Poor Delivery System and Diffusion Techniques employed by most Trainers, Facilitators and Coaches) today is the reason for low output and productivity amongst Youths, hence, this has created a shortage of Farmers (Producers) and Agribusinesses (Marketers and Investors). As a result, Nigeria is bound to keep falling into a monopolistic situation when it comes to Food Supply and Food Processing. The best solution is for investors to fund Farmer Education Programmes for small holder farmers and actors along the Agri Value chain, while the Government on the other hand create policies that support Agricultural Production, marketing, processing and logistics, such as providing subsidies on Farm inputs, single digit and flexible credit regimes. Let us know if District Development Authorities (DDAs) in PNG would need Agricultural SME plans for your district. AMF can do a thorough household SME needs assessment and do plans and costings based on value chain needs of each commodity so each Agro-SMEs' capacities are built from the start (needs assessment) to finish (commodity technical + gross margin calculations/marketing/banking needs). It is inevitable that some social trainings will be blended-in to ensure some level of adaptation of the agro-SMEs can be harnessed. It will not be one-off trainings like other people do! In agro-SMEs, learnings have to be facilitated along the value chain and it should take quality time for farmers to understand the values of the trainings which when applied offers them the incentives they are looking at to push their purses. Only then, the farmers will appreciate the tireless efforts injected by experts!

USING TOMATOES AS A CONDUIT TO CHANGE How do you change the mindset of community members who do not value education? The answer is, of course, you do not ever change someone's mindset, only they can do that. Throughout 2023 Livingstone Tanzania Trust worked alongside subsistence farmers in Babati. Many of them were growing tomatoes before we started, but not always successfully. We established demonstration plots in the heart of the community for all to see and we offered to train and mentor anyone who wanted to improve their farming practices. 135 farmers came forward. They gained new knowledge to enhance their skills and are reaping the rewards of the changes they have made. In this way they, and the whole community, have seen the value of education and this changes the value they put upon it. Sometimes it is important to tackle a problem from a different angle. And that's a wrap! 'Green Innovations Centres for the Agriculture and Food Sector India' and 'Sustainable Agriculture Systems and Policies India' projects implemented by GIZ India, together organised two training seminars on ValueLinks 2.0, a methodology to develop sustainable agriculture value chain development projects. Select participants were invited to a ValueLinks Training of Trainers seminar in Delhi. The ToT session facilitated deeper discussions on the methodology as well as trained participants in facilitating introductory ValueLinks seminars. Participating in both was useful to understand how effective programs to strengthen rural livelihoods in sustainable agriculture can be developed. The next step is to roll out the training materials in Hindi, with help from the ToT participants and registered VL trainers in India, to facilitate training of grassroots workers in this methodology. Big shoutout to Alfons Eiligmann, founding member of the International ValueLinks Association e.V., for being a wonderful facilitator, fellow trainees, and the organizing teams from GIC and AgSys.
