Bridging Research and Industry: GIZ Supports New Partnerships 🤝🏻 On October 7, 2024, GIZ announced the results of its call for proposals aimed at fostering strategic partnership between universities, research institutions, and industrial companies in Uzbekistan. This event, part of the Private Sector Development and Economic Policy Advice in Uzbekistan project, supports green industrialisation by linking academic research with practical industrial solutions. The project is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). In total, 5️⃣0️⃣ project proposals were received. These proposals were assessed based on criteria such as innovation, feasibility, impact potential, partnership strength, and cost efficiency. An expert panel, consisting of representatives from the GIZ, Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Uztextileprom Association, conducted a thorough review to ensure a transparent selection process. As a result, six remarkable projects were selected as winners, with each receiving financial support to develop their proposals: ✅ Sustainable Fiber and Ceramic Technologies in the Fergana Region by Fergana Polytechnic Institute ✅ Strengthening Reinforced Concrete Structures with Basalt Fiber Reinforcement by Namangan Engineering-Construction Institute ✅ Reducing CO2 Emissions in Ceramic Brick Production by Karakalpak State University ✅ Development and Production of Construction Materials from Municipal Waste by Nukus State Pedagogical Institute ✅ Sustainable Production of Building Materials by Tashkent State Transport University ✅ Sustainability and Industrial Innovation Program by Unitary Enterprise "FARPI HITECH ENGINEER" under Fergana Polytechnic Institute These projects represent a notable step forward in promoting sustainable development and advancing collaboration between academia and industry in Uzbekistan.
