Employee Spotlight: Jeff Miller
Q: How did you get into aerospace?
A: I basically grew up in it. My father was in aerospace, and while growing up I went to work with him on Saturdays and they would give me odd jobs to do. I’ve basically been in aerospace ever since and have accumulated experience on well over 50 different airframes spanning from piston, turbo prop, to jet powered.
Q: What is something you are particularly proud of during your 4 years with SEKISUI Aerospace?
A: There are several things that stand out including getting to support the Kaizen entry that went to Japan, the establishment and sustainment of the SEKISUI University, meeting performance goals even in the time period we were without a GM, the new capital investment, and the overall transformation for the plant that turned it into a showplace.
Q: What do you like most about your job and the company?
A: As a manager at a smaller facility, you can really be a change agent. In most roles it can take years to see the results of the decisions you make, but here, the impact is nearly immediate. Also, I do appreciate the isolation of the plant. While it can be more difficult to recruit, it also allows for more development opportunities from within which can be very rewarding to watch.
After a lifetime in aviation and the last 4 years spent in 51041, Jeff is retiring! Help us wish him a well-deserved and fantastic retirement!
