What´s up today? Our expert Dr. Gabriele Menges-Flanagan presents today the advantages of scalable and continuous organometallic reagent synthesis at the 52nd Organic Process Research and Development Conference OPRD in Prague. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀? The main advantages are the increase in safety due to small reactor volumes, improved product quality due to the process window it operates in, and flexible production of exactly the amount of reagent needed and required. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗣𝗥𝗗? The chemical and pharma industries are fast moving and ever changing and the efficient conversion of a chemical process for manufacture has always been of importance. The OPRD conference is an important networking event in this field, focusing on the key aspects of the chemical industry. The Mistra SafeChem programme on safe and efficient chemistry by design is now entering its second 4-year period with 100 MSEK in funding. Together with academic institutes such as Stockholm University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology and with major industrial partners such as AstraZeneca, Merck and BASF, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden will continue to use its expertise in toxicology, hazard and risk assessment and life cycle analysis to help develop chemical processes and products that fall within the EUs demands of being safe and sustainable by design. “This is a grand challenge, but I feel confident that together we will help to contribute to a future where societal protection and economic growth go in harmony,” says ian cotgreave, senior advisor at RISE and Deputy programme director of Mistra SafeChem. 🔬 Do you want to know what we have learned during Phase 1 of Mistra SafeChem, a research programme for a green and sustainable chemical industry that has been running since 2020? 🌱 🔎 You can access many of the findings in the recordings of the Mistra SafeChem final webinar: https://lnkd.in/db_e5GjD Mistra SafeChem has both research and industrial partners. In total, around one hundred people are involved in the work of the research programme 👉 RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, IVL, Stockholm University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, ChemSec, DTU - Technical University of Denmark, AstraZeneca, BASF, Cytiva, enginzyme, H&M Group, Holmen, IKEM - Innovations- och kemiindustrierna i Sverige, Krahnen GmbH, Perstorp Group, RenFuel, Stockholm Vatten och Avfall, Volvo Cars, Wargön Innovation
