THE BURGER MODEL – INTEGRATING AI AND HUMAN INTERACTION IN MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES Having AI join your meeting can be a great way to improve ideation, speed, and the quality of ideas and decisions. However, the flip side can be that it introduces a distraction and diminishes participants' motivation and ownership of ideas and decisions made. Without motivation and ownership to decisions, nothing will happen after the meeting, making it a productive waste of time. To avoid this alienation from the output of the meeting, the Burger Model could be useful. The model is simple: 🍔 First, you have human interaction.  🍔 Then, you ask AI for input or feedback.  🍔 Finally, you end with human interaction. Working like this keeps the participants at the wheel and in control of what is used and decided. I wrote an article about this in the magazine “Erhvervspsykologi (Business Psychology), Number 4, December 2023” . I have used the Burger Model in meetings and workshops numerous times, and it seems to combine the best of human interaction with AI interaction. Recently, Anja Hartung Sfyrla, Claus Raasted, and I used the Burger Model at the ICCA Association Expert Conference. Here’s how it went: First, we asked the participants (Associations, Venues, Destinations, and Meeting Suppliers) in groups of 5-6 to formulate experiments addressing challenges in the meeting industry. Secondly, we asked them to email us the experiments. During the break (30 minutes), we asked ChatGPT to give feedback on the experiments: "What are three positive things about the experiment, and what three things should be considered or improved?" Thirdly, the participants received the feedback and did a second round of improving the experiments. Dessert: Afterwards, we collected all the experiments in a GPT, generated a short report, and sent it along with a link to the GPT so they could explore more if interested.
