In recent weeks there has been a lot of conjecture about investment in stadium infrastructure. In reviewing learnings from Mark Zucco's recent US stadium tour with Outpoint Group, one thing is certain, without investment, Australian stadiums are at risk of being left behind when compared to the rest of the world. We must find ways to continue to invest while also exploring alternate funding models; private funding, super funds, or a 'tourism tax' like that in the US. But, we must also get comfortable with smaller venues. Brisbane does not need a 70,000-seat stadium on an ongoing basis. 40,000 - 45,000 is plenty. Let’s right-size our venues and strike the right balance between capacity and stadium economics.

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Stadium of the Future will feature a 63,000-seat capacity, expandable to 71,500 for major events like the Super Bowl, College Football Playoff, and Final Four, with an investment of $1.4 billion. It will also boast a translucent roof that reduces heat retention by over 70%, along with wider concourses, premium seating options, and breathtaking city views from lookout decks.
