We know the world must reach #NetZero no later than 2050, and companies have a crucial part to play. Last year, our net-zero targets were validated by @ScienceTargets—a milestone we uphold every single day in our journey toward a more sustainable future. The Science Based Targets initiative confirmed that the greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets submitted by Glamox conform with the SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard, classifying our scope 1 and 2 target ambition as in line with a 1.5°C trajectory: ✔️ Overall Net-Zero Target Glamox commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2045. ✔️ Near-Term Targets Glamox commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year. We also commit to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% within the same timeframe. ✔️ Long-Term Targets Glamox commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2045 from a 2022 base year. Congratulations to Glamox for having their net-zero targets approved by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)!👏🏽👏🏽🌍 This validation indicates that Glamox's greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets align with the SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard. About SBTi: 🔆 Science-based targets show companies and financial institutions how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to prevent the worst effects of climate change. 🔆 The SBTi is an organization that 1️⃣ defines and promotes best practices in emissions reductions and net-zero targets based on climate science. 2️⃣ develops standards, tools, and guidance to assist companies and financial institutions in setting science-based targets in accordance with the latest climate science. 3️⃣ evaluates and validates the targets of companies and financial institutions through its validation services arm. 💡To understand the emissions reduction targets, it is important to consider the different scopes of emissions: ➡️ Scope 1 covers direct emissions produced by sources owned or controlled by an organization during its business activities. ➡️ Scope 2 covers indirect emissions resulting from the purchase and use of electricity, steam, heating, and cooling, as the organization is indirectly responsible for these emissions through their energy consumption. ➡️ Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions that occur in the upstream and downstream activities of an organization, which are often more challenging to measure and address. Happy Earth Day! This is one of my favorite days of the year, so allow me to tell you a story.   Back in 1970, Earth Day got its start. It happened again in 1980, and then again in 1990. That struck me as wrong: Why only dedicate one of 3650 days to celebrating our planet?   Alongside Senator Gaylord Nelson and others, I helped make Earth Day an annual event. And slowly but surely, the movement to protect our planet has grown.   Now, after decades of sounding the alarm, we have more momentum than ever to curb emissions and embrace sustainable, clean energy technologies.   That’s certainly good news. At the same time, it’s challenging to ensure that these technologies are built with environmentally-friendly materials – and can be used for the long haul.   The theme of this year’s Earth Day is Planet vs. Plastics. When I started  247Solar, Inc, I was determined to build a technology that didn’t just generate clean energy, but used safe, reusable materials. So I’m proud to say they there are absolutely no plastics in our 247Solar Plants™.   Our system – which uses mirrors and a receiver tower to harness the power of the sun – is made of mostly recyclable materials and operates for decades without replacement. Additionally, we don’t use molten salts or other environmentally hazardous materials.   And if our Plants are ever decommissioned, they can be readily disassembled. Most components can either be recycled or re-used.   This Earth Day, I’m encouraged by the progress we’re making on renewable technology.
