Last week we reached 5500 registered schools and education centres which is brilliant because it means in most towns and cities where we are offered inventories of furniture for free, we have a school nearby that we can send it to. That saves a lot of mileage. Now 5 days later we have over 5700 schools registered which means over 200 more schools have found us, 180 of those registereing on Friday! We are a popular choice for schools and will need more businesses to donate lots more furniture and tech to Business2Schools so we can help the growing number of schools that need our help. Schools register with Business2Schools for free and everything we give to them is free, businesses pay for the transport and save a fortune on commercial waste costs, and the carbon emissions that go into the recyling process. Mobilise TI is a community-driven initiative that empowers everyone who lives, works, or plays on Waibene/Thursday Island in the Zenadth Kes/Torres Strait by improving access to affordable, healthy, and accessible transport options. Mobilise TI aims to raise a minimum of $15,000, which will support 'a truckload' of bikes (15 bikes) transported from mainland Australia to Waibene/Thursday Island. Transportation costs are real - these are the realistic costs of living on remote islands. The work of Mobilise TI seeks to develop a local bicycle ecosystem, including setting up repair and maintenance workshops, training local mechanics, and promoting safe cycling practices. Mobilise TI's approach seeks to reduce dependence on private cars and paid lifts to get around and increase the freedom of mobility and independence - the freedom to get around. I see plenty of posts about a company’s tech stack. What about your linen stack? Are your linens piled up somewhere near your laundry room? Cleaners taking them home to finish off site? Throwing away soiled linens because they don’t want to deal with them. Stains got you down? How about missing inventory and short stock? Limited space to store? Messy laundry space over flowing with the extras you can’t bring yourself to donate? These are all common problems of owners/PM’s who either don’t know they have a linen problem or they don’t want to admit it. Either way, we’re here to help! Happy International day of Charity! (a bit late, but better late than never) While the international day of charity has passed, the spirit of giving still remains. Apart from giving back to the society, charity also starts in the workplace too and it's importance cannot be overemphasized. Fostering a culture of charity within an organization can have profound advantage on employee morale and retention in ways you might not think possible. As I'm sure you know, aligning company values and practices with meaningful social causes avails businesses the opportunity to impact their communities positively. However, involving employees in charity initiatives gives them a sense of empowerment. When employees feel empowered to contribute to causes they also believe in, they not only find purpose but also strengthen their connection to the company. This sense of belonging, in turn increases job satisfaction, reduces turnover rate and creates a more positive work environment. You will find that they also stay through tough times and act as Ambassadors of the company's mission and vision because they are a part of something they believe in! My (late) International Charity Day message to you is this - Create a meaningful workplace, involve your employees actively in your CSR and charity initiatives. By involving your employees in these initiatives, you not only impact the community, but also foster a sense of belonging that will in turn drive business growth and together we can make a positive impact in the world!
