Mental health "is" important and taking time for yourself is vital. Does your employer offer you that time and space to regroup and work on your mental health? Many organizations offer Mental Health days, Flex Time and or support benefits that help employees with their personal struggles. I'm grateful that I work for a company that provides me with a 9/80 schedule that allows every other Friday off. This enables time to catch up on errands, plan appointments and additional time to take care of myself. As a workforce we've normalized this process and look at it as a necessity rather than a luxury as projected in years passed. Let this serve as a gentle reminder to remember to take care of "you." Why should you care about mental health? Not only it has a grave impact on your overall being but it impacts the way you respond to life, situations and people. Your relationships can get strengthened or weakened basis this one single factor. How many times do we experience a rejection or a contrarian view and we respond in an objective way? That my friend says a lot about our mental status and how we want to lead life. It’s just not a trending topic but a concerning area of work for corporate world today. While it has a serious effect on an individual it has a massive impact on overall well-being of any organisation as such. Let your company assist you. Let your employees know that help exist.
