🚀 Reflecting on Resilience and Innovation at BAU 2025 The BAU München fair has always been a highlight for the construction world. 🏗️✨ It’s where two years of preparation culminate in one week of showcasing progress, celebrating innovation, and forging connections. This year, as I reflect on the fair, the image of Notre Dame under restoration comes to mind. The crane standing beside the iconic cathedral isn’t just a symbol of rebuilding—it’s a testament to resilience, innovation, and the delicate balance of preserving tradition while embracing progress. In many ways, it mirrors the story of our industry today. At BAU 2025, I was inspired not just by the products on display but by the people behind them: 🤝 The warm reunions with former colleagues, 💬 The conversations that sparked new ideas, and 🌟 The shared commitment to shaping a stronger, more sustainable future. Even my taxi driver offered a unique perspective. 🚕 While he noticed fewer visitors this year, he reminded me of the ebb and flow of industries and the importance of staying optimistic and adaptable. 💡 My takeaway? BAU isn’t just about innovation—it’s about the people and stories driving progress, much like the ongoing work at Notre Dame. Here’s to creating a legacy of resilience, innovation, and collaboration, one project at a time. 🏛️✨ ➡️ What inspired you most at BAU 2025? Let’s connect and share ideas! #ConstructionInnovation #Bau2025 #ResilienceAndInnovation #NotreDameRestoration #BuildingTheFuture #ArchitecturalTrends #SustainableBuilding #NetworkingMatters Photo credit: Beatrix Koch

🌍 How can we design homes that respect planetary boundaries? To live planet-positively, we must drastically reduce individual space and resource consumption. This means building fewer private square meters and more shared spaces💚 Currently, the average housing area in Denmark is 59 m² per person. To align with planetary boundaries, we need to challenge this norm and rethink what "home" truly means. That’s why the Home.Earth Foundation has kickstarted the year with the One Planet Challenge — a design competition to explore innovative ideas for homes that challenge conventional norms and embrace planetary limits. With this competition, the foundation hopes to gather ideas on how we can live differently while respecting planetary boundaries. Invited to participate are architectural firms from Arkitektforeningen growth network.

Can you believe that one of the world's most iconic landmarks was once considered an eyesore? 🤯 When Gustave Eiffel unveiled his plans for the Eiffel Tower, the Parisian elite was outraged. They called it a "disgraceful structure" and a "useless and monstrous tower." But Eiffel, a visionary engineer, persisted. He saw the tower as a symbol of the 19th century's technological advancements. Fast forward to today, The Eiffel Tower is a global icon, admired for its beauty, engineering marvel, and cultural significance. As a designer, what can we learn from this? - Don't be afraid to think outside the box. - Keep pushing boundaries, even when faced with resistance. - Time is the ultimate judge for any design! Let's celebrate the power of innovation! #DesignInspiration #EngineeringMarvel #EiffelTower #Innovation #OvercomingObstacles

"In our practice, Kjellander Sjöberg, we see our key role as architects to amend, improve and contribute to places that already exist, learning from people who already use them. Repairing urban conditions and communities is something we do in our masterplan projects through responsive strategies that are about establishing dialogues and relationships. Through this experience, over the last 15 years, it has been quite natural for us to pursue regeneration projects and conservation of heritage buildings, where there already are things in place; structural or tectonic principles, and traces of use. A lived history that we can base new concepts on. It is satisfying not having to start on a blank canvas." 𝗔 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 #𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘀: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia The concept driving the curation of the #BiennaleArchitettura2025 by Carlo Ratti is to use intelligence harmoniously, creatively, and synergistically to face the challenges of the world we live in practically. A participatory #BiennaleArchitettura, open to ideas and requiring the contribution of everyone. For this reason, a Space for Ideas has been opened to ensure that projects can become pieces in this great interactive mosaic of evolving intelligence. You have until June 21st! The method will include Transdisciplinarity (collaborative projects between multiple professionals); Living Lab (leveraging Venice as a lab merging interacting forms of intelligence); the aforementioned Space for Ideas; and Circularity Protocol because we don't want to waste a single screw and we aim to make it a 100% circular Biennale Architettura. https://lnkd.in/d6VypMGj #BiennaleArchitettura2025 #IntelliGens Carlo Ratti #LaBiennaleDiVenezia #BiennaleArchitettura
