I’m thrilled to share that this deal is officially closed! This transaction truly highlights the importance of choosing the right brokers—those with the ability, network, and experience to structure deals that are both mutually beneficial and aligned with client goals. This is particularly vital in the carwash industry, where understanding the nuances between different wash types (Self Serve, IBA, Express, Flex, etc.) and the current market landscape is crucial. When these sellers approached me after several prior attempts to sell it on their own, we went back to the drawing board and explored fresh strategies. Recognizing that the daily operations of a carwash didn’t fit the sellers' lifestyle or business model, we identified an experienced self-serve operator to lease the property. After a few months of stable operation, we successfully sold the property with a new lease in place to a small NNN investor. The award was presented at the TBNSW Awards Lunch held @ Rosehill Racecourse, with a great representation of the NSW breeding community present. Thanks to TBNSW Pres Hamish Esplin (pictured above) & his team for a great event. During the Innovation Award presentation, I discussed (at length 😉 ) some of the challenges our sector faces, particularly the critical need to rebuild industry data hubs, currently managed by Racing Australia (RA). RA has blundered all previous attempts at building such systems, so naturally there is scepticism about their ability to deliver the world class system we desperatley require to modernise and future proof our industry. Layer this with a total lack of transparency and zero collaboration with current service providers, and it's 🚩 🚩 🚩 🚩 's everywhere. Whilst the smokescreen remains, the industry’s service providers, including Breedr, have no clarity on the new system’s potential compatibility with existing software. This lack of communication is stalling investment across the entire sector, leaving us all in the dark about what this new industry funded system will bring. It's been proven time & time again in other AgTech sectors, where innovative solutions have transformed industries, improved efficiency, and modernised operations to attract new talent & skills. The common dominator in each of those success stories has been stakeholder engagement and collaboration. How do RA even know if they are duplicating what's already in the market? If we don’t get this right, the future of AI and opportunities to explore data-driven performance and welfare solutions, will be lost. While it feels like speaking to a brick wall at times, I remain hopeful that, with enough collective queries directed to RA, we can bring much-needed transparency to this critical infrastructure project. We simply want to work collaboratively with RA to ensure it's a system that maximises data efficiencies for existing industry participants, and can evolve to serve and inspire the next gen of thoroughbred lovers - just like Thoroughworks have. #Innovation #DataDriven #Collaboration #RacingIndustry #AgTech #Thoroughworks #Breedr #IndustryChallenges #FutureOfRacing
