Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City is relocating to 1400KC, a building originally designed for Waddell & Reed Financial. This 18-story 260,000 sqft office tower will consolidate over 1,000 employees into one location, featuring 10 levels of parking for staff and visitors. Notably, 1400KC is set to be one of the most environmentally advanced buildings in Kansas City. This environmental conscious project incorporated Vapor Lock 20/20 concrete admixture in the design. Our nanotechnology renders concrete impermeable to moisture and water vapor preventing concrete moisture related flooring and roofing failure. It also improves indoor air and environmental quality by eliminating a major source of building dampness. Have you ever seen the time-lapse of #AscentMKE? This is one of the core reasons we love #masstimber. It took ~6 months to build the 6-story concrete podium, and then ~6 months to build the 19-story mass timber superstructure above. The superstructure was built 40% faster (~6 days per floor) than if built in concrete. 78% fewer construction workers on site. The project was built in 23 months, ~3.5 months faster than with concrete.

Underpinning and support of the excavation (SOE) system project 🤓 : 🔷Keller North America was tasked with designing and constructing the underpinning and support of the excavation (SOE) system for a new downtown Salt Lake City apartment complex. The project involved building a seven-story apartment complex with below-grade parking, replacing an existing parking lot. Post-tensioning systems play a crucial role in construction, enhancing concrete's structural capacity. These systems utilize steel tendons along with essential components like tendons, ducts, anchorage, and grout. There are two main types: Bonded Post-Tensioning, which boosts strength through bonding, and Unbonded Post-Tensioning, which limits bonding except at anchor points. The benefits include improved strength, reduced cracking, flexibility in design, and cost-effectiveness. Ketton Quarry, located between Rutland Water and the town of Stamford, supplies limestone to the cement works near the town, and as part of the quarry expansion plan a local road had to be deviated over a section of the quarry. As the existing quarry floor was approximately 26m below the level of the new road a bridge was required to span the deep quarry cutting. The road would be supported on embankments leading up to the bridge, but the bridge supports required vertical abutments near the exposed quarry face. We worked closely with the scheme designers (WYG Group) to develop a design for the bridge abutments which had to support high concentrated loads and resist the horizontal forces generated from the integral bridge deck. With a 33.5m bridge span this is one of the longest integral bridge structures supported on Reinforced Earth abutments in the country. We're often asked to design abutments which fully support the bridge reactions without the need for costly column supports or thick RC abutments. Bradley installed concrete pads, curbs, and ADA-compliant upgrades for the conversion of 200,000 s.f. of office space across six floors into life sciences labs within an occupied building.
