Earlier this year, Glencore’s Port Operations in Townsville received an $11 million facelift. Glencore manages and operates the Berth 8 shiploader at the Port of Townsville, along with associated storage and logistics facilities. At the port, Glencore maintains three concentrate storage buildings where both our own and third-party concentrates are received and securely stored for export. Due to the composition of concentrates and the humid conditions in Townsville, Glencore must continuously maintain the integrity of our storage buildings, as construction materials can deteriorate and corrode over time. To address this, the Chemistry team at James Cook University conducted experiments to test alternative materials and surface coatings. After careful consideration, a combination of composite and painted materials was chosen to ensure the longevity of the roofs and walls. Project Manager, Justin Remmer said; “Completing the project in conjunction with everyday operations meant compliance and safety measures were carefully considered daily to ensure the wellbeing of staff and contractors and to minimise disruption to the business. “Managing construction work on the roof and the lack of trafficable access, meant work was carried out via alternative methods including purpose-built crane-lifted work boxes, mobile elevated work platforms and dedicated walkways.”

It's good to hear the PM clarification that many road construction companies under the Connect PNG road program are PNG owned. perfect! but there still exist doubts in the capacity of the companies in terms of the companies having the appropriate machines and professionals to do the job. example is, a contractor being awarded a road sealing job when the company lacks professionals and bitumen equipments. How was the contractor capacity screened during the tender stages and contract awarded? Was it a clear example of close tender through the Golden Triangle principle?

The Ayer Merbau Phase 2 project, a monumental endeavor in land reclamation, spanned 35 hectares at Ayer Merbau. This area, now hosting over 100 leading global companies in the petroleum, petrochemical, and specialty chemical sectors, underwent extensive development including marine dredging, sand mining, shore protection, land reclamation, and soil improvement, along with the construction of Merbau Channels to cater for the conveyance of process water and stormwater management. Asia Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) was appointed to offer expertise in Project Management, Construction Management, Employer’s Representative, and Contract Management and Administration services. Building on our core strengths in Engineering, Reclamation, Contract, and Cost Management, AIS developed a strategy approach to ensure the project achieves timely completion while adhering to environmental monitoring, programme management, and workplace safety standards. Central to our strategy was a People First ethos and our commitment to Sustainability: 👷♂️ People First – health & safety a top priority 🌎 Sustainability – Recycled excavated fill materials from MRT and other developments in Singapore were used to minimise the use of sand. Rocks removed from rock cavern projects were also recycled to form shore protection and for a surcharge. 👉 Discover the intricate challenges we faced and the innovative solutions we implemented: https://lnkd.in/g9bFmTcx #AsiaInfrastructureSolutions #DeliveringTheFuture #AyerMerbau #Reclamation #ProjectManagement #ConstructionManagement #Singapore #ContractAdministration #Sustainability

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates regarding our company's progress and future prospects. Foresta has built on the momentum from late last year when we secured a black pellet offtake contract with Tailored Energy Resources Limited. We have since established our raw material supply policy and are now actively implementing various contracts to support this, including spot buying, stump extraction and delivery, and cutting rights or standing forest purchase. Moreover, we have assembled a highly experienced team and secured a range of contracts spanning sales offtake, supply, equipment procurement, and construction, supported by extensive documentation and studies. In light of our comprehensive preparation and due diligence, we are delighted to announce the launch of our private project-based capital raise through investment into a Limited Partnership for the Bay of Plenty Project. Join us on our exciting journey to decarbonise the future 🌲 https://lnkd.in/gYGXC6CJ

Interesting listening to the CE at Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities talking about the deep dive they have done into construction costs and the savings they are generating - he had me at $2,200m2 for a 2 bed slab up. Key areas being: material procurement strategies (sourcing direct), waste reduction and labour efficiencies. Good to hear they are drilling down and will share their findings.

#Dangote candidly admits that the refinery project’s sheer complexity could have deterred him if he’d known the extent of the challenges. Securing a suitable location proved to be the first hurdle. The initial site faced governmental disapproval, and the subsequent location required extensive work as 70% of the land turned out to be marshland. Engineering Marvels: Overcoming Immense Obstacles: The surprises didn’t stop there. The unstable soil necessitated piling, a technique requiring a staggering 249,000 piles to be driven. Furthermore, the colossal equipment needed for #construction demanded the creation of a dedicated port and road infrastructure. Resourceful Solutions: Building Where There Wasn’t: Another hurdle emerged – a scarcity of essential building materials like sand, gravel, and #cement from domestic suppliers. Dangote’s solution? Building a factory specifically for crushing stones, showcasing his remarkable resourcefulness and commitment to the #project. 💡 Read and watch more: https://lnkd.in/djmsqArW #HeyZeit
