The ASA's recent ruling on a prize draw competition highlights a crucial lesson for anyone running lotteries and/or raffles: game rules must be clear and fair. It is also generally advisable not to change the game rules once a promotion has started. ✍ Check out our blog article for the full details of the ASA's ruling and make sure that your charitable gaming programmes are compliant with the CAP Code: https://lnkd.in/e2kZKGwd

Have you seen the Postcode Lottery's new purpose-led brand campaign? It's proof that purpose isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a strategy that works! I caught it during the ad break of The Great British Bake Off and I have to say—it’s a stroke of #MarketingStrategy genius. Let’s start with where they were: "someone knocking at your door, somebody ringing your bell." A purely functional, money-driven pitch—Give us money, and we’ll give you more money. Add to the fact I’m not a fan of unannounced door-knocking, I have never been the least bit interested. Now, their new campaign has completely flipped the narrative. Instead of focusing on the cash prize, they’re showcasing the amazing work the Postcode Lottery does supporting a whole host of charities. I love giving to charity—it makes me feel good about myself. And if I’m in with a chance to win, even better! Add to this they aired it during GBBO—which is basically crack for people of my profile and their new #PurposeDriven approach hit the audience at the perfect time. By shifting to a purpose-led message, the Postcode Lottery has unlocked a whole new audience of people who care about social impact, not just cash rewards. Am I more likely to play now? Absolutely! I entered the draw before Noel and Alison were back on screen. And I don't think I am alone —Deloitte tells us 63% of consumers prefer to purchase from purpose-driven brands! What do you think? #PurposeDriven #PostcodeLottery #MarketingStrategy #GBBO #CharitySupport #MillennialMarketing #BrandStrategy #GreatBritishBakeOff #Philanthropy #SocialImpact
We’re excited to share the launch of our work with People's Postcode Lottery! The campaign showcases the incredible impact of player funding on charities across Britain, highlighting the work of seven of their long-term supported charities and celebrating the £1.4billion raised by People’s Postcode Lottery. The heart-warming advert features comedian and actor Tom Allen as he visits Postcode Lottery player “Sarah” with a message of thanks. He then reveals Ellie Goulding, who performs a new version of the classic hit ‘What The World Needs Now” alongside footage of the supported charities, all expressing their gratitude. ➡️ Read more in Campaign UK here: https://lnkd.in/eTFhtFni

For anyone in an NFP that would like to learn how to further your cause through complimentary partnerships, should check this out.
Teaming up with other NFP’s could be your next step to maximise your impact for your cause. By working with likeminded charities, you can drive more change within your communities. Monique Reynolds, CEO of Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT), has over 10 years’ experience managing boards and committees. Along with Mike Christensen, Non-Executive Director and board chair, Finance, Risk and Audit of Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) and an expert in identifying and managing risks and opportunities, they will join us at our next NFP Round Table session on the 19th of June to talk about complementary partnerships along with a multitude of other topics. 🍻🏴 Looking forward to the England game? Bellingham brace pending? The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) is forecasting an extra 20 million pints to be sold during the tournament, adding a whopping £93 million to the sector. But there's a trend taking over, I call to call it the "Boxpark Effect." Every time England scores, the BBPA says between 15-20% of drinkers pints are launched into the air or split in celebration. 🕺 If 18.5 million people are watching the game (although roughly 15% of the UK don't drink) and an average of 17.5% spill/throw their pint, that's about 2.75 million pints lost each time England score. 🥃 With the average pint costing £5.45 (Lumina Intelligence menu tracker), that's about £15 million flying high with every goal! 💸 So next time you're cheering for England, maybe keep a tighter grip on your pint – or just consider it your patriotic duty to "donate" to the atmosphere! 🍻⚽️ #Euros2024 #PubEconomics

What would you do if you won the lottery? Quit your job/Buy a big new house/go travelling first class round the world/buy a fancy dan sports car/give money to family, friends, or charity? Or would you be a bit more prudent – invest the money and live of the interest (rates are good just now!) and pass the money onto future generations. Although statistically you have 64 more times chance than being crushed by a meteorite, than winning the Lotto jackpot (the odds are 700,000 to 1 vs 45 million to one). It is nice to dream though. I know for most people; a lottery win would mean not having to worry about money. The old adage is that money doesn’t buy happiness (I am sure there are unhappy billionaires out there), but it certainly would alleviate stress and worry. Personally, I don’t think money would change me. My favourite things are spending time with my family and my dog Joey (although time can be a precious resource as well). However, I would buy St Mirren, install myself as manager (I have several years’ experience playing Championship/Football manager) and lead them to Champions League glory. Although this might take billions rather than millions. Joey has been a bit poorly recently – so we spoiled him a bit. We had a weekend away so we could spend quality time together – so walks on the beach, or in the forest, going for “swimmies”, chasing his ball. Eating ice cream and having steak for dinner, lots of belly rubs and being told he was the “best boy”. We wanted him to feel as if he had won the lottery…. If this is my last ever Linkedin post, then either one of two things have happened. I am holding this week’s winning lottery ticket or more likely I have been hit by a meteorite while walking the dog. What is the first thing you would do after a big win?

As we celebrate 30 years of The National Lottery, we’re reflecting on the incredible difference National Lottery funding has made in communities across Scotland. 🎉 Last month, our Scotland Chair, Kate Still, visited Tullochan, a project in West Dunbartonshire that has benefited from £1.3 million in #NationalLottery funding over the years. Tullochan’s work shows how investment in people and communities can transform lives, empowering young people to build brighter futures. Thanks to National Lottery players, we’re aiming to invest £4 billion across the UK by 2030, enabling us to support more transformative projects like Tullochan. Watch our video to see the impact of 30 years of National Lottery funding and hear Tullochan’s story.

We are 10 days away from Expunge Colorado's 7th annual record sealing clinic! It has been 7 years of putting on a record sealing event in Denver, free to the community, where we literally change people's lives for the better. Expunge Colorado's mission is to enable people to move forward from their criminal records. We do this through our 3 pillars of service: education, advocacy and offering pro bono record sealing services. What's different about this year compared to the other years is for the first time our application for clinic opened and closed within 24 hours. Our capacity was reached in 24 hours! In 72 hours, we had 100+ people on a waitlist to be notified for the next record sealing event in 2025. This proves that our pro bono legal services for petition-based record sealing is at an all-time high. Expunge Colorado provides an essential service to people who are in need of jobs, housing and a chance to move forward with dignity from their past. We cannot do this work without the help of sponsors and donors. If you believe in criminal justice reform, reparative justice, and social equity and are in a position to donate, please consider our local 501c3 nonprofit. The funds will go towards food, supplies and the work that continues weeks after the clinic. We have a crowdsourcing campaign with a goal to reach 5K: https://lnkd.in/gqVw2Zsi I'll leave you with a few testimonials from our Intake application: “This would help me regain dignity in all aspects of my life. I just want to thank all the professionals willing to help us get our lives back!” “I really hope you can help me and i look forward to moving in a brighter future for myself and my family!” “Thank you very much for your assistance in this process. I very much appreciate it, and it will have a dramatic impact on my life.” #ExpungeColorado #criminaljusticereform #secondchances #recordsealing #expungement #Coloradononprofit #nonprofit
