Sustainable Venue Checklist Item #2: Responsible Menu Options ✅ There are a few components we look at in this category. We look at whether the venue offers a diverse range of non-meat protein options at various price points and meal-function types. We review the venue's practices for managing food waste, like if they compost and use it for onsite gardens. We also examine whether the venue sources ingredients from local suppliers. 🥗 When you choose sustainable, inclusive, and eco-conscious venues, you’re being sustainably and socially responsible, plus you’re also encouraging others to do the same! 🌎 #SustainableEvents #EarthMonth #FoodResponsibility 🌱

Our next Circularity in Action Social Meet-up will be on Thursday 9th May, 5:30 - 7:30PM. We’ll be hosted by the environmentally minded cocktail and wine groovers at Glou Sustainable Wine Dispensary. Glou is a sustainable wine bar who is pushing for closed loop systems and circularity by doing what they know best - wine. Working directly with winemakers, they take wine from the barrel straight to customers in refillable bottles. By doing this, they cut out single use vessels while also significantly reducing their carbon footprint due to the lighter loads in transporting their wine! Glou is also part of our Community Compost Collective! They’re one of our partner hospitality venues we collect food waste from to turn into beautiful hyperlocally made fertiliser. 🌱💚 We'll be doing a site tour and talk led by Rahel Goldmann, Founder and Managing Director of Glou where we'll get to see first-hand how Glou does circularity within their business. Drink on arrival included (non-alcoholic options available) as well as shared nibbles, with plenty of vegan/vegetarian/ gluten free options available. Register now to book your spot! 👇🏼 https://lnkd.in/gmwneAPA Not part of our Circularity in Action Social Meetups group yet? Click through to the group page below to join! 🌍 Happy International Day of Zero Waste 2024! 🌿 Let's celebrate our commitment to a greener, more sustainable future by getting creative with our efforts to reduce waste and protect our environment. Here are a few unique and innovative ways we can make a difference: 🌟 DIY Upcycling Projects: Instead of tossing out old clothes or furniture, why not give them a new lease on life with some creative upcycling? For example, you can upcycle your tyres into tyre swings, dog beds, and more. You can also turn old T-shirts into reusable shopping bags or transform pallets into stylish garden furniture. 🌟 Zero-Waste Grocery Shopping: Embrace the zero-waste lifestyle by shopping package-free at bulk stores or farmers' markets. Bring your reusable containers and bags to fill up on essentials like grains, nuts, and fresh produce, avoiding unnecessary packaging. 🌟 Green Travel Initiatives: Reduce your carbon footprint by exploring eco-friendly travel options such as cycling, walking, or public transport. Check your car's air filter- a clogged air filter may reduce fuel efficiency by as much as 10%. When planning holidays, opt for destinations that prioritize sustainability and conservation efforts. 🌟 Community Swaps and Share Schemes: Encourage a culture of sharing and resourcefulness within your community through tool libraries and produce-sharing initiatives. Sharing resources reduces waste and promotes a sense of community spirit. 🌟 Sustainable Gardening Practices: Grow your own fruits, vegetables, and herbs using sustainable gardening methods such as composting, water-saving techniques, rainwater collection, and natural pest control. This will reduce food miles and satisfy you with homegrown organic produce. 🌟 Switch to digital documents to save on paper and ink. Make your own eco-friendly cleaning solutions by mixing baking soda, lemon juice, and vinegar. This blend refreshes your countertops, showers, toilets, and floors. Let's embrace these ideas and work together towards a cleaner, greener planet for future generations! 🌱💚 #InternationalDayOfZeroWaste #ZeroWasteDay2024 #ActNow #ShopZeroWaste #SustainableFuture #ProtectOurEnvironment 🌎

🌿 Elevating Corporate Events with Sustainability in Mind 🌿 Let's talk sustainable catering 🍽️ At EB MICE, we are committed to creating unforgettable corporate events that also care for our planet. Did you know that 20% of the UK’s climate change emissions are related to the production and transportation of food, yet a third of this is currently thrown away? This food waste collection ends up in landfills, where it decomposes and produces methane gas, contributing to the greenhouse effect. It’s estimated that restaurants and food service establishments in the UK generate around 1 million tonnes of food waste annually. It's widely known that event catering companies throw away a huge amount of food, and as we use catering companies for our events, we're committed to making a change. We prioritise catering companies who: 🍃 Shop local and seasonal: They source responsibly, buying local and in-season produce to reduce their carbon footprint. ♻️ Have Zero/Low Waste principals: They are dedicated to minimising their waste as much as possible at every event. 🌱 Use Eco-Friendly Materials: They use recyclable and biodegradable materials. 🥗 Offer Vegetarian & Vegan Options: They offer a variety of plant-based menu options to support sustainable food choices. Together, we can make a positive impact on our environment while delivering exceptional event experiences. Join us on our journey towards a greener future! #SustainableEvents #EcoFriendly #CorporateResponsibility #GreenMeetings #MICEEvents #SustainabilityMatters #PlanetFirst #EcoInnovation

For us, sustainability is not a catch phrase. It’s interwoven into the DNA of our company, our mission-driven philosophy, and our daily operations. We're invested in the long-term health of the planet while simultaneously making delicious scratch-made food & drink. We put sustainability into action by thoughtfully sourcing ingredients, painting with non-volatile compounds, choosing efficient HVAC and lighting systems, repurposing wood from fallen trees and old barns, diverting 90% of waste from landfills through robust composting and recycling programs, and more. We feel we're changing the landscape and blueprint for how a high-volume sustainable restaurant can be and operate in the present day. Sustainability at Farmers Restaurant Group goes far beyond just Earth Day. 💧 Sustainable Tip of the Week 💧 Our water footprint extends beyond just the water we use at home. It includes the water used to produce the food we eat and the products we buy. Did you know it takes approximately 1.39 liters of water to produce a single bottle of water? Reduce your water footprint by eating less meat, buying second-hand, and supporting companies with sustainable practices. Let's be mindful of the water that goes into everything we consume. #WaterFootprint #SustainableLiving #EcoConscious #Sustainability
