Join Michael Bushong, an industry expert, and host Scott Robohn as they talk about why Network Operations is the next big thing and why you should start with the end in mind for NetOps. They propose that NetOps shouldn't just get a seat at the table; they should get 51% of the vote. They also discuss how NetOps necessarily guides you to focus on people and processes, not just tools in a vacuum. And speaking of tools, they also explore the question: why of the 217 tools you've learned and invested in, do you think the 218th tool is going to be that One Tool to Rule Them All? This is a good unscripted discussion on operations and automation with Scott Robohn. We cover a lot of ground, including a foundational question about why we are where we are as an industry. Essentially, has our breakthrough moment been elusive because the right tools have not come along, or is there something more fundamental in the problem space? The answer is clear, but the conversation provides more insight. Worth a listen if you're in the operations space, either as a practitioner or a strategist. The implications on strategy should be clear. What we tend to not say out loud is that companies will live and die with some of these decisions. And careers will be made (or not) with clever planning and careful consideration. Not everything is a make or break moment, but some things are.
