The recent rainfall in the UAE on April 16th, 2024, had a profound impact on various sectors, including logistics. As roads flooded and transportation networks faced disruptions, it highlighted the critical importance of preparedness and continuity planning in logistics operations. Preparedness efforts, such as the swift activation of emergency response teams and resource deployment, demonstrated commendable proactive measures. However, challenges in maintaining logistics continuity during such events underscored the need for robust strategies. Key lessons for logistics continuity in the face of natural disasters: Risk Assessment and Planning: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities in logistics networks and develop contingency plans tailored to mitigate potential disruptions caused by adverse weather events. Infrastructure Resilience: Invest in resilient infrastructure, such as flood-resistant storage facilities and alternative transportation routes, to ensure the continuity of logistics operations during adverse weather conditions. Supply Chain Diversification: Diversify supply chain sources and distribution channels to reduce reliance on single points of failure, enabling logistics operations to adapt to disruptions more effectively. Real-time Monitoring and Communication: Implement real-time monitoring systems and communication channels to track weather patterns, monitor logistics operations, and facilitate timely decision-making during crises. By incorporating these lessons into logistics continuity planning, businesses can enhance their resilience to adverse weather events and ensure the uninterrupted flow of goods and services, even in challenging conditions. Let's learn from the impact of rainfall in the UAE and strengthen logistics continuity for a more resilient future! 🌐🚚 #UAE #LogisticsContinuity #Preparedness

Floods in Dubai: Impact on Air Cargo and Logistics Unprecedented rainfall in the United Arab Emirates has severely impacted cargo operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the world's busiest airports. The flash flooding, a result of the heaviest rainfall in 75 years, led to the airport's temporary closure and the cancellation of around 300 flights. As Dubai continues to grapple with the aftermath of the floods, the logistics industry faces ongoing disruptions. Some DXB-bound cargo has been rerouted to other airports, but the situation remains challenging. Airlines, banks, and city transport services have been hit by major disruptions and service outages, affecting businesses and residents alike. While Dubai's authorities are working around the clock to restore operations and return life to normal in affected areas, the full extent of the disruption to the logistics industry remains to be seen. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation. #Dubaiairport #floodsinDubai #logistics #disruption #aircargo #airlines #seasky

Seeing Operational Resilience as another emerging practice in UAE which should look into the protection of Critical Infrastructure & continuity of their services during disasters such as the recent rain hit floods in UAE. UAE Government has already implemented countrywide robust resilience measures with the world class people, process, technology arrangements, safety & security measures established in place. Particularly its noteworthy to mention about the WAR MODE work done by UAE Government Officials, Police Department, Municipal Employees, Volunteers during the recent rains, without which UAE would not have resumed back to normalcy in less than a week. A Big Salute to all those selfless hearts who are the blood vessels of UAE and the kind hearted UAE Rulers who love and take care of the residents of UAE in the best possible ways by providing world class life standards, safety and security. This is the reason why people from global countries would like to move and settle down in UAE and make it as their home. After the recent worst rains, UAE Govt has initiated sector wide proactive study of the current status of Operational Resilience, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Business Continuity Management, Crisis Management which should trickle down to IT Resilience Management (IT Disaster Recovery, IT Services Continuity Management) areas too. https://lnkd.in/dAYWUbsj https://lnkd.in/de-ABc_x https://lnkd.in/dtdj2Ew5 Those who want to learn hard core principles of Business/ Organizational/IT Resilience should go through standards such as ISO 22301, ISO 22316, IRBC (ISO 27031) and BIS Resilience Guidelines.

The UAE recently experienced its heaviest rainfall in 75 years, causing widespread flooding and disruptions. Airports, malls, and offices were flooded, motorists were forced to abandon their broken-down vehicles on water-logged roads, and residents were left to repair leaky roofs. As the country seeks to recover from the tumultuous conditions, uncertainty lingers regarding the stability of weather patterns. Meteorological experts anticipate monitoring developments closely to determine if the region will experience a return to more typical weather or if further instability lies ahead. We hope for respite from the recent extreme weather conditions and for the safety of all those affected.

Dubai recently experienced heavy rains and subsequent flooding. While some attribute this to cloud seeding, the primary cause is believed to be climate change. The changing climate patterns have contributed to the unusual weather events, highlighting the importance of addressing climate change and its impacts on our environment. Amid heavy rains and floods, prioritizing safety is crucial. Here are some detailed guidelines: 1. Electrical Safety: • Avoid areas with water accumulation, particularly around electrical outlets and appliances, to prevent the risk of electrocution. • Ensure electrical devices are positioned at higher levels and kept away from water sources to minimize hazards. • Take proactive measures by switching off the main electrical supply during flooding to mitigate potential dangers. 2. General Safety: • Stay informed about weather forecasts and emergency protocols to effectively respond to evolving situations. • Exercise caution when encountering flooded roads, refraining from driving through standing water to prevent hidden dangers and vehicle damage. • Equip yourself with an emergency kit containing essentials like flashlights, batteries, first aid supplies, and non-perishable food, ensuring readiness for unforeseen circumstances. By adhering to these detailed precautions, you can significantly enhance safety and resilience in the face of unpredictable weather conditions. Let's unite in prioritizing safety and well-being during challenging times.
