"The value of a robust government to government conversation" 🎤 The GDHP is present at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 Forum High-Level Event 2024. Today's session at the Multistakeholder Dialogue on National Digital Health Transformation explored the intersection between global digital health networks and case studies of governments in digital health transformation and collaboration. 🌍 GIDH: a network of networks The Global Initiative on Digital Health (#GIDH) was kicked off in February 2024 as a World Health Organization Managed Network of organizations, institutions and government technical agencies actively engaged in supporting national digital health transformation. Created as a vehicle to help accelerate the implementation of the Global Strategy on Digital Health, GIDH aims to focus country-level efforts and align resources toward country-led digital health transformation through strengthened collaboration and knowledge exchange. 🔃 How do the GIDH and GDHP relate to each other? Close collaboration between GDHP and GIDH is essential: GDHP can offer unique value as the government-to-government network to GIDH as network-of-networks We will share more materials from this session soon! In the meantime, you can find more information on the GIDH here: https://lnkd.in/efz73Puf #WSIS2024 #DigitalHealth #GDHP #GIDH #HealthSystems #GlobalCollaboration #DigitalTransformation

"WHO is supporting countries to achieve their digital health vision through the Global Strategy on Digital Health, which is based on rigorous science and technical standards. Endorsed by Member States in 2020, the strategy is defined by four key pillars: collaboration and knowledge sharing; supporting implementation of national strategies; improving governance; and promotion of people-centred health systems. Some of the main challenges we face are fragmentation and overlap, driven by the proliferation of new digital tools built without common standards, or lacking the support of a shared vision. In a digital age, health workers should not have to carry a separate device for each disease or be required to fill out both paper and electronic records." --Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization on #digitalhealth

WHO announces The Global Initiative on Digital Health (GIDH) Digital health is a proven accelerator to advance health outcomes and achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and health-related Sustainable Development Goals. GIDH will address challenges such as duplication of efforts and “products-focused” digital health transformation through a focus on four foundational pillars: 1. Country Needs Tracker - facilitating digital health investments to be informed by country priorities; 2. Country Resource Portal – identifying traditional as well as innovative resource opportunities, and promoting transparency, while reducing the risk of duplication for enabling a standards-based prospective and retrospective analysis of resourcing gaps in digital health. 3. Transformation Toolbox – advocating for quality-assured tools and resources that strengthen country capacity and autonomy to manage the national digital health transformation. 4. Convening and Knowledge Exchange - promoting strengthened collaboration and knowledge exchange across global, regional, and national networks in digital health. #digitalhealth #who #sustainablehealthcare

Great news from WHO about global digital health! WHO/Europe is all set to launch its first-ever Strategic Partners’ Initiative for Data and Digital Health, which will "work to identify and address gaps in data and digital health ecosystems to help to build safe, affordable and person-centered health systems in the WHO European Region," reports the World Health Organization. This is great news, as digital tools are continuing to play an increasingly important role in improving health outcomes. One of the main objectives of this initiative is developing future scenarios for healthcare delivery and data usage in Europe that can be used to inform the transformation of health systems, which I think is such an important goal. What do you think about this initiative? #HealthcareNews #DigitalHealth #WHO

The World Health Organization is launching the Global Initiative for Digital Health next week -- a "network of networks" to advance national digital transformation. 120 (out of 194) WHO member countries have launched a national #digitalhealth policy or strategy however product-focused implementation, duplication of efforts, and fragmented resources have led to a digital divide and limited effectiveness. Proposed 5 year outputs: 1. Country needs for technical support are systematically captured and made accessible to development partners through a standardized Country Needs Portal. 2. A platform to announce and identify resources and gaps in financial and in-kind commitments in digital health is available to countries, development partners and technical partners. 3. Countries have timely access to routinely updated tools to measure maturity of the enabling environment for digital health, track digital health initiatives, guide the development and updating of digital health related strategies and policies, and identifying quality-assured digital solutions. 4. Continuous cross-network knowledge exchange between existing global, regional, and national communities of practice, coalitions and more is institutionalized within the WHO Link to launch and executive summary in comments.
