I've been speaking with a number of reporters and media organizations on Biden's recent decision to pause LNG permits for non-FTA countries. Here's my conversation with the folks at Heatmap News, who I think captured the nuance on how we think about climate impacts of LNG very well. There is no one correct answer here. The climate impacts of US LNG depends on the importing country, realistic alternatives to imports, time horizon, and geopolitics. And even an analysis of climate impacts of future terminal must take this complexity into account. #LNG #Biden #ClimateImpacts #Methane #MMRV https://lnkd.in/gPFH8vvm

Fossil Fuel Frenzy Threatens Climate Goals A new report by Global Energy Monitor reveals a disturbing trend: fossil fuel producers are on track to quadruple oil & gas extraction by the end of the decade, led by the US. This surge in activity directly contradicts the IEA's warning – no new oil & gas infrastructure if we're to limit warming to 1.5°C. The science is clear: exceeding this threshold will trigger worsening heatwaves, floods, and droughts. Despite these warnings, countries and companies continue to ramp up exploration. 45 new projects sanctioned since 2021, representing 16 billion barrels of oil equivalent. US leads the way, followed by Guyana and South America/Africa emerging as new hotspots. This relentless pursuit of fossil fuels jeopardizes the chances of staying below 1.5°C. What are your thoughts on this critical issue? #Sustainability #ESG #FutureofEnergy #ClimateChange #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #CleanTech #SustainableBusiness

Watching Question Time yesterday a number of questions implied we should stop Oil and Gas now. Sadly, there was no mention of all the good work being done in the energy transition space. I'm sure we would all love to move to a carbon free world but no change of this scale happens immediately. Patience and hard work will make the transition happen with minimum impact to living standards, loss of jobs and to allow time to develop the infrastructure required. As an industry are we doing enough to educate the public and lead the political climate change agenda? #energytransition #assetintegrity #pipelines

Huge moment! BP, a giant oil company, predicts that we will reach "peak oil" next year! Meaning that the extraction of oil will be going down after that, even though our energy needs are increasing. This is just a prediction and currently, we are still extracting more and more oil. However, this news still gives me a little hope that we are going in the right direction. Of course, BP is still trying to profit from this energy transition by investing in a plethora of clean energy sources. So it's very annoying to see the players that have the most contribution in our climate crisis, generally get off scot-free. But at least they are getting wise 🤷🏿♂️ I heard about this from the weekly climate base newsletter, which I recommend anyone interested in weekly bite-sized climate news to follow: https://lnkd.in/gKKG3uqU
