I am happy to share this new and exciting program from Professional Education at HGSE. Mental Health in Higher Education: A Theory-to-Practice Approach for Student Well-Being uses a strength-based, theory-grounded approach to support higher education professionals in developing clarity around the mental health challenges facing college students today. There are two entirely different interpretations and sets of definitions associated with DEI. The problem is half of the information and definitions are based out of fear mongering and misinformation meant to delegitimize the half that is legitimate; supported by evidence and research. "Diversity of Thought" doesn't excuse you to give false claims and not back it up with sound, valid, evidence and support. You don't just get to make things up because you don't want to accept the facts. Stop giving falsehoods power.

This is often the second biggest reason for school avoidance. So many schools do not understand sensory overload. ❌ NO, children will not 'get used to it'! ❌ NO, it's not 'all in their head' - it physically hurts! ❌ NO, it's not a 'new thing', and YES it did happen in 'your day' but we (your neurodivergent peers from the 60s, 70s, 80, 90s) were silenced as we were made to feel weird for divulging our struggle ❌ NO, it's not just another reason for truancy 💯 YES, it is a health matter and impacts physically and mentally 💯 YES, it seems to affect a lot of people 💯 YES, schools do have a duty of care to ensure the provision is suitable (as do local authorities) 🧡🧡🧡 GOOD NEWS!
