We are announcing the launch of the #GlobalGovTechBoard, guided by the leadership of Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister at the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and Markus Richter, State Secretary and Federal CIO at the Bundesministerium des Innern und für Heimat. This global initiative, initiated by strong Ukrainian-German cooperation, was just unveiled at the World Economic Forum #AnnualMeeting in Davos. Co-led by Global Government Technology Centre Berlin and Global Government Technology Centre Kyiv, the Board serves as the first global forum to unite CIOs, CDOs, ministers, and key officials responsible for digital transformation in national and federal governments. Its mission is to advance GovTech practices, facilitate knowledge sharing, and foster collaboration to transform government operations and enhance citizen services. Manuel Kilian, Managing Director of the Global Government Technology Centre (GGTC) on the launch of the Board: "The growing importance of new technologies to governments means that CIOs, CDOs and digital ministers must prioritise strategic collaboration - with other countries and the GovTech ecosystem alike. The Global GovTech Board provides the world's first dedicated platform to make this collaboration a reality". The establishment of the #GlobalGovTechBoard is a significant milestone in digital governance, creating a connected and effective global network for GovTech. ONLINE ROUNDTABLE: What’s next for the Global Digital Compact? Pathways to civil society engagement in the implementation and follow-up    The #GlobalDigitalCompact (GDC), adopted during the Summit of the Future, emphasises the importance of taking a multistakeholder approach to Internet Governance and includes a commitment to strengthen and leverage multistakeholder cooperation to achieve the objectives set out in the GDC.     This event on October 31 aims to explore what effective multistakeholder cooperation should look like in practice when implementing and reviewing the GDC. We’ve entered a new era of government technology with the official opening of the Global Government Technology Centre (hashtag #GGTC) in Berlin on 1 October 2024. Part of the World Economic Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network, GGTC Berlin will spark a more systematic approach to GovTech development, with new methods of cross-sectoral co-ideation, co-creation, and co-learning. In a new article, Marc Reinhardt, Capgemini Executive Vice President, Public Sector Global Industry Leader, explains how the GovTech ecosystem has the potential to create a more inclusive and sustainable development opportunity in terms of public sector digital transformation across the world. Countries lagging behind – through lack of finances, technology know-how and resources, or geopolitical instability – have an opportunity to leapfrog on the back of more technically advanced nations and catch up with the transformations of their own administrations. That’s not all. He argues that this more systematic approach to sharing knowledge and co-creation will also help to resolve challenges with interoperability, whereby projects with broad-ranging regional benefit fail to deliver expected outcomes because platforms built for them in one country are not interoperable in another. It’s an exciting time for everyone involved in GovTech and, more broadly, the digital transformation of government services. But first, states must prepare common principles based on interoperability, openness & equality to facilitate its implementation 📡 🧰 To influence the G20 Brasil 2024 agenda being declared at today's Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the T20 Brasil has released its official Communiqué which contains consolidated recommendations from all 6 Task Forces on everything from #DPI to #DataGovernance and #ClimateChange.
