Today I facilitated a group of authentic femine leaders from around the world and as always I have some key take aways. We always learn from each other. 1. Communication - tell people what you need and don't expect them to guess. My colleague years ago said "Robyn, I haven't finished my Diploma in Mind Reading, so can you tell me what you need". (thanks Kaye) 2. Leaders don't know everything so have the courage to ask for help. Asking for help is a gift to the other person. 3. If you see discrimination, don't be silent. The more we can talk about it, the more we can support each other and make positive change. 4. Trust in yourself. I am so pleased to be involved with the Inspired Women Lead program. Excited to be chatting with Tynisha Coleman, ACC and Karlyn D. Henderson, M.A. about how to "lead from the pack" as a leader at Dutchie! I'm proud to be a leader of an ERG here at Dutchie and conversations like this bring mindfulness to our team about the value of being inclusive, especially when observing important periods like Black History Month. Whether its adding your pronouns to your zoom name or leaving room for more introverted team members to speak up, creating safe spaces for folks to bring all their ideas to the table leads to better execution overall. What do you all think are the qualities and actions that leaders execute on a daily basis to create an inclusive environment in the workplace? I'll start: My manager Devin McClintock has truly fostered a customer first, results oriented environment where there's no such thing as a dumb question. Our team calls can be anything from helping someone prep for a demo, a deep dive on a new feature or highlighting someone's execution in following up with a client. More and more I notice women showing up and doing what is required for them to thrive more than ever. They’re rewriting old scripts and stories that are no longer serving them. They’re learning to soften and allow goodness to come in. They’re learning to let go. They’re learning to follow their intuition. They’re taking risks as the cost of rejection and negative perceptions. They’re doing the work. I’m especially proud of my clients who are diving deep into these areas to build a thriving life for themselves, their business/career and their family/relationships. They inspire me more than anyone. The future of women in leadership is paving their own path, with their own creative expression, in their own energy. I had the pleasure of attending an in-session day with Kansas Leadership Center over When Everyone Leads. My greatest takeaway was asking better questions to identify “the gap” and further explore opportunities to close “the gap” in an impactful, open, and often collaborative way — helping individuals, teams, and organizations overcome challenges. While I certainly recommend checking out the program, here are a few key questions to get the ball rolling (as shared by KLC)… Question One: When you think about the future of ____________ (your company, your team, your community, or your family) what concerns you the most?
