Maximizey Rservoir Contact Strategy:The New Generation of Smart Multilateral Well Advancements in drilling technology facilitate the drilling of multilateral wells, while the latest smart well completion systems enable longer laterals by dividing them into multiple compartments. Integrated stations, positioned against each compartment, allow for real-time liquid metering and downhole pressure measurements. These stations are equipped with electrical inflow control valves that offer infinite positioning for real-time management of unwanted fluid production. The well completion diagram illustrates the pioneering trilateral well application, where each lateral is segmented into two compartments. Optimization of production in each compartment ensures that reservoir pressure drawdown stays within specified limits, achieved through adjustments to the electrical ICV. A sophisticated well modeling approach was employed to replicate historical production from each compartment. This achievement is remarkable, particularly with the utilization of an algorithm to regulate production in each compartment during forecasting runs, resulting in increased oil recovery compared to scenarios where monitoring occurs at the lateral level.
