💕Understanding the diversity of motherhood across contexts and generations is crucial. This recognition helps us appreciate the unique roles and contributions of maternal figures in various cultural, social, and family settings. By embracing this diversity, we honour the many ways individuals fulfil maternal roles and promote inclusivity and respect for family dynamics. Embracing these differences enriches our understanding of motherhood and strengthens the bonds that unite us across generations and cultures. 💕
As we celebrate Mother's Day, it's important to acknowledge that the concept of "mum" expands to encompass many different forms across generations. Whether it's a biological mother, a stepmother, an adoptive mother, a grandmother, or a maternal figure who provides love, care, and guidance, each plays a significant role in shaping our lives and nurturing our growth. Let's honor and appreciate all the diverse expressions of motherhood this day represents.

Absolutely, empowering mothers like mine play a crucial role in shaping confident, independent, and compassionate daughters. Balancing strength and nurturing qualities helps girls develop into resilient individuals who can assert themselves while also fostering empathy and support for others. It's about creating a space where they can embrace their ambitions and emotions equally. In brief, she guided me in the art of earning, preparing, and enjoying bread accompanied by celebratory wine. Moreover, she instilled in me the values of generosity—sharing the bread, avoiding leaving anyone hungry—cultivating humility to express gratitude to all who extend kindness, and fostering a steadfast faith in the divine within oneself. How do you plan to support this approach?

Ah the #GenderPayGap so much fun to be squeezed out of this Santa Baby. Early reports are in and An Post are nailing it again, congratulations all, it takes a village, or a whole organisational approach to create WorkEqual cultures. Lidl Ireland are making great strides with a clear understanding that more women in leadership is a winning strategy. I recently had a conversation with a senior leader in a very particulate sector that universally struggles to retain women into leadership roles. It’s one of those ‘cut and thrust’ ‘I want it now’ sectors, you know the ones. It was explained to me that when a woman goes to a four day week it creates big issues around client expectation in an instant gratification culture. Either the clients need are left unmet or the woman has to jump to it on her day off. I asked how many men are on four day weeks. The answer. None. And here we have the problem. We cannot foster cultures of equity when people are playing by different rules of engagement. Let’s play it out, the men in the team choose to avail of four day weeks. Suddenly the client expectations have to change. Your shareholders know that broken system has to be fixed or your #CSRDtargets will not be met. In fact, I bet some of your shareholders are also your demanding clients. Now, here’s a bit of #MileyCyrus To get you in the mood for the season of giving. #equity #diversity #inclusion #workequal https://lnkd.in/eqGRjmxD

Director of Communications, Campaigns & Events at International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB)
As well as being St Valentines day today is also Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent for many Christians. For me, as a Catholic, this period holds deep significance in the preparation for Easter, the most important celebration in my faith. This time of reflection, and the visible mark on my forehead, makes me consider how our individual beliefs, cultures, and traditions shape who we are. These elements aren't separate from our work lives – they influence our perspectives, values, and the ways we connect with others. It's so important year round to acknowledge and celebrate the diverse identities that enrich our workplaces. The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) communications team alone is made up of many different faiths, traditions and cultures, which as a team we try to mark, celebrate and educate each other on Fridays. It's in understanding and respecting the things that make us unique that we create truly inclusive environments. Whether you observe Ash Wednesday and Lent, or one of the other religious festivals or traditions that take place at this time of year, or celebrate your individuality in other ways, it is so important to honour the aspects of our lives that bring us meaning and inspire us to be our best selves, both at work and beyond. #AshWednesday #Faith #Culture #Diversity #Inclusion #WorkplaceCommunity
