The unveiling of the Sustainable Development Goal Exposition at Jefferson Station marked a pivotal moment in Philadelphia's commitment to a sustainable future. We're overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who made this event a resounding success.
A special thank you to our speakers who set the tone for this transformative initiative:
Leslie S. Richards, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA)'s Chief Executive Officer and General Manager
Zabeth M. Teelucksingh, President of Global Philadelphia Association
Elizabeth H. Lankenau, AICP, Interim Director of Sustainability, City of Philadelphia
City Councilmember Nicolas O'Rourke
Jody Holton, SEPTA's Chief Planning & Strategy Officer
The Philadelphia Sustainable Development Goals Campaign is more than just an awareness project – it's a movement. We are proudly to be Philadelphia first as we are the only city engaged in such an awareness project globally:
17 neighborhood walls will showcase SDG-inspired artwork within the next 2 years.
Local non-profits will receive donations for each SDG artwork
We're addressing global challenges at a local level
The release of SEPTA's Sustainability Playbook in April 2024 demonstrates our unwavering commitment to environmental, social, and economic best practices. Building on the SEP-TAINABLE 2020 plan, we're charting a course for a sustainable, inclusive, resilient, and connected public transportation system over the next seven years.
This initiative wouldn't be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. From educational institutions to healthcare providers, from financial services to retail giants – your diverse backing reflects the universal importance of these goals. Your commitment to promoting sustainability in Philadelphia is painting a brighter future for our city.
Thank you everyone for joining us on this journey towards a more sustainable, equitable, and vibrant city. The road ahead is exciting, and with your continued support, there's no limit to what we can achieve.
Join the conversation! Share your thoughts on how we can further drive sustainability in our beloved city.
