In my experience working with youth fighters in challenging conditions, I learned that gaining their trust requires patience and understanding. These young people, often intoxicated with local poisons and suffering from hunger, were initially very difficult to approach. It took time to carefully observe and comprehend their infrastructure, values, norms, and social fabric. By investing in this understanding, I was able to engage them in discussions about mutual respect and dignity. Treating them with genuine respect and dignity helped open doors that had previously been closed to humanitarian support. While this approach may not be universal, it tends to be effective in internal conflicts. It is a place-based and space-based experience that we can learn from one another. I believe that this method can significantly enhance #humanitarianaccess and #protectionofcivilians in similar situations. #peace #Humanitarianwork

In a groundbreaking move, the Colombian government signed a commitment with local guerrilla insurgency group Comuneros del Sur, marking the first territorial peace process of its kind. The agreement aims to resolve years of violence and displacement in Nariño. 'This implies the suspension of hostilities against the population and the cleaning not only physically of the territories through demining, but also the search and recognition of missing persons, as well as a spiritual cleansing,' said High Commissioner of Peace Otty Patiño. 'We need a peace force and solid, organized teams that include everyone: national, departmental, municipal institutions, indigenous authorities and women.' The Peace Commitment Presentation at Universidad CESMAG involved NGO @hwpl_peace and local indigenous youth. Initiatives include demining villages, transitioning guerilla members to civilian life, preventing child recruitment, and facilitating the return of displaced families. 'We fully believe in the power to construct a future for our youth, where we can strengthen our culture, our teachers, our own rights, our community's economy, and ethnic prevention for our people,' said Julica Sedo, a youth leader from Organization de Respaldo indígena de pueblo Vale de Pacifico. #peacedeal #colombia #demining #displacement #reconciliation #indigenousrights

The Unseen Victims of War: Palestinian Children The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been ongoing for decades, with both sides suffering immense losses. However, there is a group that often goes unseen and unheard - the children. Palestinian children are growing up in a war zone, where the sound of gunfire and explosions is a constant reality. They are being denied their basic rights to education, healthcare, and a childhood free from fear. The statistics are heartbreaking: - Over 2,000 Palestinian children have been killed since 2000 - Thousands more have been injured, many with lifelong disabilities - Children make up over 50% of the Palestinian refugee population - Access to education and healthcare is severely limited due to the conflict These children are not just statistics - they are innocent lives, full of hope and potential. They deserve a chance to grow up in peace and safety. Let us not forget the children of Palestine and the impact this conflict has on their young lives. Let us work towards a future where all children can thrive, regardless of their background or nationality. #PalestinianChildren #ChildrenOfWar #IsraeliPalestinianConflict #HumanRights #PeaceForAll
