According to the 2024 UBS Family Office Report “An average of just 56 per cent of family offices globally have an investment committee, with only 44 per cent having a documented investment process.” This is completely shocking to me. Every HNW individual and family should have a documented investment process. This eases the pressure of decision making and ensures that all investment decisions are consistent with your goals and values. I do this with every client I work with. It should be standard practice. #familyoffice #investing #hnw #womeninfinance #highnetworth

? Family Offices Grow as the Rich Get Richer ? The number of ultra-wealthy individuals has more than doubled in the past 20 years, fueling the rise of family offices. A JP Morgan report finds that these private organizations, managing investments for the ultra-rich, are expanding rapidly. ? As of 2022, there are 10,000 to 20,000 single family offices worldwide, up from 6,000-7,300 in the mid-2000s, controlling $5.9 trillion in assets. ? The ultra-high-net-worth population (with $50M+ in assets) grew to 395,070 individuals in 2022, holding over $45 trillion—up from 157,000 in 2004. ? Prominent examples include Lauren Powell Jobs' Emerson Collective ($28B), Walton Enterprises ($169B), and David Rubenstein’s Declaration Capital ($4.3B). ? These offices strive for double-digit returns, with an average goal of 11%, and attract top talent. Family offices are evolving with sophisticated investment approaches and significant involvement from family members, ensuring unity and success across generations. Interesting piece. The vast majority of family offices (at least in Asia) are investment centric with little focus on other functions. This is likely to always be the case - professional independent control of wealth will be a key objective . However a family office does not give succession planning in terms of wealth transfer so more thought and structuring is needed. How is the wealth owned and what is the plan for the next generation and beyond? #succession #wealthmanagement #sfo

Family offices, are diving deeper into private companies. Back in the early 2000s, these investments made up just 5% of their portfolios. Today, they account for 15-20%. The allure? Higher returns than the public markets. To find out more, please read below: https://lnkd.in/gjdXYSAq #PrivateMarkets #FamilyOffices #CNBC #WealthManagement #FinancialTrends #PrivateEquity #Investing

Large family offices are significantly diversifying their investment portfolios, with 46% of their total investments in alternative assets like private equity, real estate, and hedge funds, reflecting a strategic shift away from public stocks for potentially higher returns and lower volatility. The movement from public to private markets is reshaping investment strategies among family offices. This transition enables them to leverage their extensive resources in more controlled, less volatile environments. https://lnkd.in/gYdijWjp

Family Offices Embracing Private Equity I caught up with a family office principal I really admire and they’re adding a private equity strategy alongside their core private credit strategy. I know at least 3 other families that have the same thesis but in different industries. What it shows me is that family offices have the ability to invest across the capital stack and really understand what risk adjusted returns look like. I’m excited to start working with this family office as their strategies have been consistent performers every year since we met, and yes they showed proof of those returns.
