When I first entered tech recruitment, there was always this "hoo-ha" stigma around staying in a job for too long or too short-a-time. It basically went something like this: Staying too short (< 2 years): 🏃♀️ You get labelled as disloyal. 🏃♀️ You can’t commit to long-term project work. 🏃♀️ You’re impatient for a new challenge. 🏃♀️ You miss out on building long-term relationships. Staying too long (> 7 years): 🦕 You’re seen as stuck in your ways. 🦕 You’re perceived as not prepared to learn new things. 🦕 People wonder if you can adapt to a new culture. But honestly, what a load of outdated nonsense 💩 😎 Just be you. ⤵ ☁ Every individual's career path is unique. The length of time someone stays in a job doesn't define their loyalty, adaptability, or commitment. If it’s your time to leave and they are for genuine reason CRACK ON 🔥 Have a wonderful weekend all! #datarecruitment #dataengineer #dataanalyst #datascientist #newrole #recruitment #ta #ocado #ocadotechnology #fridaythought #techrecruiter #caraffi #jobsearch #vacancy

Job Stability in IT: A New Reality Recent data shows over 57% of IT professionals have been at their current company for 2 years or less, and 60% have been in their current role for under 3 years. In today’s fast-paced tech world, short-term roles and frequent job changes are becoming the norm. Companies often need specialists for specific projects rather than long-term hires, leading to more contract work and less emphasis on traditional job stability. Understanding this shift helps us navigate our careers more effectively and adapt to the evolving job market. What are your thoughts on these trends? "Just had an inspiring call with a candidate that reminded me why I love recruiting! Recruiter: 'Tell me about your ideal role.' Candidate: 'I'm passionate about data science but also value work-life balance.' R: 'I have a position that might interest you...' C: 'Sounds great, but I'm hesitant about the travel.' R: 'They offer remote work two days a week.' C: 'That's perfect! When can I interview?' Fast forward three weeks: C: 'I got the offer!' R: 'Congratulations! How do you feel?' C: 'Excited and grateful. Thanks for your support!' Moments like these make it all worthwhile. #RecruitingWins #CareerSuccess"

Ex-Data Recruiter Partnering With Organisations To Become More Data Driven & Provide Sustainable, Scalable Solutions That Deliver Real Results
I can't say this enough - unfortunately, like a lot of recruiters, I can have a pretty short term memory at times 😅🙃 I LOVE when candidates give me a little nudge to remind me they're still looking. Even if we only spoke last month, or haven't spoken very often, it is so helpful 👌 It doesn't have to be super complicated either, it can be something simple like: "Hey James, it's been a little while, how's the market looking? I'm still keen to hear about new roles". Please don't feel like a pain for following up. We speak to a lot of people each week so those little nudges are really great and help keep us accountable 😊 #hiring #recruitment #data

Major job posting sites aren’t just a headache, they’re a bottleneck keeping candidates and businesses from finding each other. While tech jobs dominate the media conversation about work, in truth, the labor force runs on small business hourly jobs. WorkOnward (Techstars '23) Your Job, on the Map. serves this segment: business owners who lack the resources for hiring agencies and traditional staffing services and hourly workers intimidated by having to create a resume, let alone navigate corporate-centric platforms. Holly Diamond 💎 found the inspiration to WorkOnward close to home: Her parents’ experience struggling to hire at their restaurant. The pandemic turned every type of business upside down, including restaurants, which make up so many people’s livelihoods — and that included hiring in such a precarious time. But hiring challenges have persisted, and Holly saw a gap in the most prevalent hiring sites. Holly’s startup set out to solve one of the most fundamental needs a person has: finding good work. In an environment where tech and the future of work can become laser-focused on making everything faster, WorkOnward focuses on making the *right* hiring decisions so that both businesses and workers can find stability and sustainability – which snowballs into building more financially healthy and resilient communities. Learn more about Holly and her fellow impact-creating cohort members from the ADAPT US program with MetLife Foundation focused on helping communities and individuals adapt to global challenges related to climate change, healthcare, wellness, and economic mobility in the US: https://lnkd.in/ey2Tw9UK

We’re looking for a candidate with 76 years experience … 📈 Must have worked in a scale up environment with a headcount of exactly 311. 🤝 Needs to have line managed people named Bartholomew, Petunia and Carol. 🔹 Their insights discovery colour has to be blue but we may allow green. 🤖 Must be proficient in these 12 niche software tools as well as these 7 unknown acronyms. 🔱 They must hold or be working towards their 4th doctorate degree in quantum behavioural studies of the lost city of Atlantis. 🍍 Has to be comfortable working in an office with no windows and one giant table shaped like a pineapple. 🙄🙄🙄 Listen, I get we are all looking for that unicorn candidate but I’ve seen some wild job descriptions recently. Being so blinkered in your search will only mean missing out on some really special candidates who’ve been on an incredible ride to get to where they are today. They may not have all the 74 things you are looking for but the ups, downs and loop de loops might bring a unique experience that could make an even more exhilarating hire than you initially imagined. Don’t be so quick to kick them out the line 🎢 #recruitment #hiring #careerjourney #jobdescription #hrcommunity
