Outline the necessary skill sets and qualifications for each role, including certifications, relevant experience & familiarity with certain conditions. Networking thought for the day…“don’t burn bridges.”  The aviation community is not as big as one might think… With networking being essential for career growth, it’s crucial to maintain professionalism and integrity along the way. According to the FAA, at end of 2023, there were active pilot certificates in the following categories: Commercial & ATP certificates - 280,824  Private Certificates - 167,711 Rotorcraft “only” – 13,428 This is less than 500k active pilots in the workforce, in the U.S. The way you depart a job can resonate throughout the tight-knit aviation community. Leaving on good terms ensures that your reputation remains intact and that you maintain valuable connections for the future. Some ideas to ensure bridges are left intact upon departure: ·      Give an appropriate amount of time when you resign. If your future employer does not respect your desire to give a 2-week notice to your current employer, that could be a red flag for that new employer. ·      Caution about bad-mouthing the prior employer…giving someone a heads-up that a prior company might not be a great place to work can be done professionally without bad-mouthing that employer. Always be respectful and considerate, both in your resignation and in your professional interactions. I just learned that August 19 is National Aviation Day! And you may think my excitement for that is weird, but aviation will always hold a special place in my heart. My first "real" job out of college was as a Human Resources Generalist for Garrett Aviation, a corporate aviation company. And, boy, did I learn a lot in that job! Not just about HR and employees and managers, but also just about how to be a business leader. It's where I learned it is ok, even if you are the most senior member of a company, to ask questions when you don't know or understand. In my 2 years at Garrett, I experienced an Affirmative Action Audit by the OFCCP, a union organizing campaign, my manager getting terminated and his replacement having vastly different expectations of me than the previous manager (which was a lesson in communication for both of us), an acquisition by GE, and working in a very male-dominated industry. It was also where I met my husband, but that's a story for another day. I get so excited anytime I get a chance to work in or near aviation.
